EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
Knit all rows.
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side.

START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
SLIPPERS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The leg is worked back and forth with circular needle, top down. The piece is divided and the mid-piece continued back and forth. Stitches are knitted up along the sides of the mid-piece and the foot is finished back and forth.
LEG:
Cast on 53-57-61 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Lima with colour blue indigo.
Work 3 RIDGES – read description above. The next row is worked as follows from the right side:
Work A.1 over 2 stitches, A.2 until there are 3 stitches left and A.3 over the last 3 stitches. Continue this pattern until the piece measures 10-11-12 cm from the cast-on edge – adjust to finish after a row from the wrong side. Cut the strands and turn the piece to the right side. Place the first 19-19-21 stitches on a thread, keep the next 15-19-19 stitches on the needle and place the last 19-19-21 stitches on a separate thread.
MID-PIECE:
= 15-19-19 stitches. Working from the right side, work pattern as before over the 15-19-19 stitches, BUT increase 1 edge stitch on each side on the first row – increase by working in both the front and back loops of the first and last stitches on the row = 17-21-21 stitches. The edge stitches are worked in colour blue indigo. Work until the mid-piece measures 7½ -8½-10 cm - adjust to finish after a row from the wrong side, working both the edge stitches together with their adjacent stitches on this row. The edge stitches have now been decreased and there are 15-19-19 stitches. Cut the strands.
FOOT:
Turn the piece to the right side. Place the first 19-19-21 stitches from the thread back on the needle. Use blue indigo and knit these 19-19-21 stitches, knit up 17-19-22 stitches inside the 1 edge stitch along the side of the mid-piece, knit the 15-19-19 stitches on the mid-piece, knit up 17-19-22 stitches inside the 1 edge stitch along the other side of the mid-piece, place the last 19-19-21 stitches from the thread back on the needle and knit these stitches. There are 87-95-105 stitches on the needle. Insert 1 marker; used when measuring the foot.
Work garter stitch for 4 cm.
Insert 4 marker threads as follows (used when decreasing for the heel/toe):
Count 3 stitches and insert marker-thread 1, count 38-42-47 stitches and insert marker-thread 2, count 5 stitches and insert marker-thread 3, count 38-42-47 stitches and insert marker-thread 4. There are 3 stitches left after the last marker thread.
Work garter stitch and decrease as follows from the right side:
Knit 2 together after marker-threads 1 and 3, knit 2 together before marker-threads 2 and 4. Decrease like this every 2nd row (each row from the right side) until the piece measures 7-7-8 cm from the marker. Cast off with knit.
ASSEMBLY:
Fold the slipper so the sides of the leg are together = mid-back. Use blue indigo and sew together in the outermost loop of the outermost ridge as far as the cast-off edge. Lay the slipper flat so the cast-off edges are together, sew together in the outermost loop so the seam is flat. Cut and fasten the strands.
Work 1 more slipper in the same way.
