KNITTING TENSION:
24 stitches in width and 32 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
NEEDLES:
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3 MM.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

ROLLED EDGE:
Work 6 rounds of stocking stitch. Work 1 round of rib (knit 2, purl 2) – this round prevents the rolled edge continuing after this point.

START THE PIECE HERE:

CHRISTMAS HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, bottom up.
HAT:
Loosely cast on (72) 80-96-104 (112-120) stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm and red.
Work ROLLED EDGE – read description above.
Work 1 round of stocking stitch where you decrease 8 stitches evenly spaced on the round = (64) 72-88-96 (104-112) stitches.
REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Continue with stocking stitch to finished length. When the piece measures (11) 12-13-14 (15-16) cm, insert 1 marker in each 8th stitch = (8) 9-11-12 (13-14) markers.
Decrease for the top of the hat as follows: Knit 2 together after each marker. Repeat this decrease every (3rd) 3rd-3rd-4th (4th-5th) round a total of 6 times in all sizes = (16) 18-22-24 (26-28) stitches.
On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = (8) 9-11-12 (13-14) stitches. Cut the strand. Thread a double strand through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. (17) 18-19-22 (23-25) cm from the top down.
Make an off-white pom pom of approx. 3-5 cm in diameter. Fasten the pom pom to the top of the hat.
