DROPS 4.5 mm [US 7] and 5.5 mm [US 9] needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.
DROPS 4 mm [US ] crochet hook, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm on larger needles in stockinette st.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Knitting tips (for armhole and neck): All decs are made from right side. For neck dec inside 4 edge sts in garter st and at armhole dec inside 3 edge sts in garter st, as follows:
After the edge sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Before the edge sts: K 2 tog.

Buttonband: The buttonbands are knit in garter st so that the edge will be a little firmer.

Knitting tip: Ribbon has a tendency to twist when knit. For best results, untwist the yarn as you go along.

Back: Cast on 53-60-66-72-79 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 5 cm inc 1 st at each side every 4 cm a total of 5 times = 63-70-76-82-89 sts. When the piece measures 23-24-25-26-27 cm knit 4 rows garter st over the 6-7-8-9-10 sts at each side (knit the remaining sts in stockinette as before). Then bind off 3-4-5-6-7 sts at each side for armhole. Dec 1 st for armhole at each side every other row 5-7-8-9-10 times - see knitting tips = 47-48-50-52-55 sts remain. Continue in stockinette st, keeping 3 sts in garter st at each side. When the piece measures 37-39-41-43-45 cm knit 4 rows garter st over the center 31-32-32-32-33 sts (knit the remaining sts in stockinette as before). On the next row bind off the center 23-24-24-24-25 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge - see knitting tips = 11-11-12-13-14 sts remain on each shoulder. Keep 3 sts at armhole edge in garter st and 4 sts at neck edge in garter st and remaining sts in stockinette. Bind off when the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm.

Left front: Cast on 30-34-37-40-43 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st, keeping 4 sts at center front edge in garter st for buttonband - see instructions above. When the piece measures 5 cm inc at the side as on back = 35-39-42-45-48 sts.
Read the entire next section before knitting:
Neckband: When the piece measures 22-24-25-27-28 cm dec 1 st for the neck every other row 16-17-17-17-17 times - see knitting tips.
Armhole: At the same time when the piece measures 23-24-25-26-27 cm knit garter st at the side and bind off for armhole as on back. After all armhole and neck shaping is complete 11-11-12-13-14 sts remain on shoulder. Keep 3 sts in garter st at armhole and 4 sts in garter st at neck edge and bind off when the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm.

Right front: Cast on and knit the same as the left, reversing shaping. Do not make buttonholes. The buttons are pulled through the buttonbands.

Assembly: Sew shoulder and side seams using edge sts as seam allowance. Sew on buttons on left button band.
Crocheted flowers: Crochet as follows: ch 4, join into a ring with 1 sl st, * ch 9, 1 sc in ring * , repeat from * - * until there are 5 petals, finish with 1 sl st in 1st ch at start of row, cut yarn. Crochet 6 flowers and sew 3 to each side of front.
