I was just checking back through the comments as I'm confused. After 22 cm for the last 3 cm to 25cm do you work Aa as stocking stitch? One answer said yes, as you are decreasing and it's too hard to work the pattern while decreasing, but an earlier answer said continue to work the pattern (as in the photo) while decreasing. I did stocking stitch but it looks odd with hardly any of the second pattern.
21.04.2024 kl. 22:00:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, you need to continue working the pattern as you decrease. This means that the stitches in A.a are worked in stocking stitch from 22 cm onwards, while you continue working the pattern for A.1 and A.3. Then you decrease for the foot at one side of each marker which should correspond to A.a stitches or the sides of the A.1/A.3 charts, so the decreases shouldn't interrupt the rest of the pattern. Happy knitting!

Do you cast the 4 new stitches on the end of the row you have just finished and then knit them off onto a new needle having a split row? Or do you need to cast them onto a new needle and knit them back onto the full needle thus having the whole row on one needle. I did the latter as the first meant you started the row on stitch 5 of A2. But it meant that I knitted the rest of the slipper inside out.
21.04.2024 kl. 21:49:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, you work: P 4, A.3, 13-13-15 sts moss st, A.1, P 4, cast on 4 new sts, work the next 4 sts. Here you will start working the round; you have displaced the beginning of the round. The cast on stitches are worked as normal stitches and don't split the row. Happy knitting!

I'm stuck moving from straight needles to in the round. I managed to cast the extra 4 stitches onto the empty needle and then knit them onto the full needle (43 stitches). But then I'm on row 2 (wrong side). Do I start A2 on row 1 or row 2? When I'm knitting in the round do I alternate knit and pearl or do I just keep knitting as for the Wrong side as that's the side that is now in the middle of the circle with the Right side facing out. I'm confused 😳
18.04.2024 kl. 09:02:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, after you cast on the 4 stitches, the pattern tells you to continue knitting on the round, and you should do that from teh right side, no wrong side rows. A.2 should be started with its first row. The diagrams always show you the patterns as you would see it from the RIGHT SIDE, so for example stocking stitch is always knit stitch, garter stitch is one round knit and one round purl. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!

Bon tricot!

Dear Anna, you will either knit or purl the stitch in the cable needle depending on the moss stitch pattern. Since you purl over knitted stitch or knit over purled stitches, if the stitch below was a knit stitch you will purl the stitch; if it was a purl stitch you will knit this stitch. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Ponsford, on the picture you work A.2 one time then the first rows = Aa = the beg of a 2nd repeat of the cable that will not be worked to the end because these stitches will be decreased for the toe (reason why you work them in stocking stitch, you won't have enough sts to continue the 2nd repeat due to the decreases), only the cables on each side will be kept. Dear Angela, You can always try to pass a thread of the yarn at the rib edge to avoid splipping off your feet. Or if you are an advance knitter, frog the rib and reknit it with smaller needles. Congratulations on your beautiful slippers! We would love to see them. You can always share photos of your projects at our Drops Gallery or on your social media with the hashtag "dropsfan. When I am measuring for the second time(17-19-22cm) , after completing A2 section, do I measure from the beginning of the A2 piece (where we joined in the round), or from the original start point ? (So only 6.5-7.5-9 cm additional knitting) As I have only completed one vertical (17lines) of A2 and the picture of the sock in the pattern has much more !

Dear Adrienne, measure the 17-19-22 cm from the cast on edge. You then continue working A.a (middle panel/cable) decreasing at the same time, so that you should have half a A.a approx (depending on your size) after the whole diagram. Happy knitting!

Dear Judith, you have to work A.a until piece measures 17-19-22 cm, and then work in stocking stitch over the stitches of A.a, but should you end A.a before the right measurement (= 17-19-22 cm), then work the stitches in stocking stitch (rather than start an new repeat in height that couldn't be finished). You continue working the cables on each side (= A.1 and A.3) to the end of the slipper, ie until all stitches will be decreased (= total length of slipper). Happy knitting!

Dear S, you simply divide the stitches between 4 double pointed needles, more or less evenly (that means that for the smaller sizes 3 needles will have 10 stitches eaach and the fourth will have 11), and use the 5th needle to knit in the round. I hope that helps. Happy Knitting!

Dear Mrs Grems, you first decrease for toe in larger size only: 1 st after 2nd marker + 1 st before 3rd marker = 41 sts in all sizes. Then decrease every other round 1 st before 1st and 3rd marker + 1 st after 2nd and 4th marker (= 4 dec per round). When working the last decrease, work together the stitches in A.1 (to avoid them being too large) = 13 sts remain when all dec have been worked. Happy knitting!

Hi Bleue, You slip the stitch onto the cable needle and the needle lies at the back of the piece, knit the next 2 stitches (not the stitch on the cable needle) and then either purl or knit the stitch from the cable needle depending on which round you are on. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Hei Linn.

I already reached 19 cm. 2) Do I place the markers on 19 cm, and start the decreasing at the next row? At the same time knitting stockinette stich on A.a or just K, as the pattern writes? I read the English and Hungarian version too, but the pattern is a bit hard to follow. Thanks in advance!
06.10.2018 kl. 12:41:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Zita, depending on your tension in height you may have to knit only one row in A.a . When piece measures 19 cm, insert the marker continuing working A.1 and A.3 (= cables on the sides) and inserting the marker on next round, and then start to dec on next round (after inserting markers). You can work the sts in A.a in stocking stitch or in pattern as you rather like to. Happy knitting!

Buongiorno Lucia.

Dear Annette, decreases for toe are made each side of the cable in A.3 (see where placing markers) - sts from Aa are then worked in st st but you are free to continue pattern if you rather, but you will have always less sts due to the toe shaping so that the pattern will not match over same number of sts.
Bon tricot!

Er der ikke en fejl i A2? Linje tre fra neden eksempelvis: der er kun tre masker til at sætte to masker på hj.pind og strikke to ret, og derefter strikke de to masker.

Hej Nikoline, ifølge diagramforklaringen sætter du kun 1 m på hj.p. God fornøjelse!

Seed stitch directions say: Row/round 1: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-*. Row/round 2: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row/round. I don't understand what it means to repeat round 2 - when? Where?
23.10.2014 kl. 02:14:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Hoffman, you work in seed st over the 13-15 sts (see size) for under foot. When you have done the 1st row in seed st, continue always working K over P and P over K over these sts. Happy knitting!

I understand where the markers are placed but what I don't understand is how you can knit 2 tog. when there is only one stitch before the marker because this is the beginning of the round
21.10.2014 kl. 16:07:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Debbie, to decrease 1 st before marker, work until 2 sts remain before marker and work K2 tog, so that you will work last st on round tog with 1st st next round at the beg of round. Happy knitting!

My problem is with the decrease round. You say to decrease 1 stitch before the first marker by knitting 2 together but the 1st stitch before the marker is the beginning of the round (beginning ofA3 pattern). I am not sure how I should be decreasing.
20.10.2014 kl. 22:17:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Debbie, markers are place here to work the dec for toe, 1st marker will be between 1st and 2nd st in A.3, and you will dec 1st before 1st marker (see next paragraph where decreases are explained). Happy knitting!

What is meant by A.a in the pattern. It is mentioned after working in the round after A.2 has ben worked 1 time vertically. " work A.a until piece measures 61/2/ 71/2, 81/2 inches. I have read over this pattern multiple times and I cannot find what this refers to. Please respond as I am at that point in the construction
20.10.2014 kl. 02:56:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Bev, when you have worked diagram A.2 1 time vertically (all rows in diagram), start again on 2nd row in A.2 working the A.a part (framed on the side). Happy knitting!

I am having trouble going from straight to in the round. Could you tell me exactly where in the pattern Is the first stitch in the beginning of the round and are the 12 stitches in chart A2 all worked together? Sorry if this is obvious but I just can't get my head around this.
14.10.2014 kl. 18:04:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Barb, when working straight, row from RS starts and ends with P4, join in the round on a RS row casting on 4 sts between the first and last P4 = you get P12 for the upper foot. Rounds will then start there (after cast on), continue then in the round in pattern as before and work A.2 over the P12 (end of round). Happy knitting!

What do you mean by work one row vertically?
12.10.2014 kl. 19:58:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Debbie, when it says "When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically" it means you have to work 1 time in height all rows of diagram A.2. Happy knitting!

When you say to cast on 4 stitches and then work them, are the purled or knitted? Also I am not sure where you should join for in the round. Is the start of the round before or after the 4 stitches?
12.10.2014 kl. 17:27:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Clarke, the 4 sts are cast on at the end of a row from RS and then continue in the round - beg of round will be then after the new 4 sts. Happy knitting!
