Could you please explain what you mean when you say (Dividable with 8sts + 4sts) when picking up stitches along the left front piece? What are the 8+4 stitches?
04.04.2024 kl. 16:43:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Cecile, you should pick up as many stitches so when you have your stitchnumber, and you take off 4 stitches the rest should be the multiple of 8. (So for example, you pick up 84 stitches,, minus 4, then the 80 that is left is a multiple of 8.) You do this, so if you start your ribbing with 4 knit, then do a P4/K4 ribbing, you can dinish it with 4 knit stitch. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!

Dear Cecile, edge sts are usually worked (unless otherwise stated) as sts in garter stitch. These are always knitted when you work back and forth. That is, when it says 1 edge st= knit 1. Happy knitting!

Hi, another question please about the sleeves. Increase 2 sts alternating every 3rd & 4th row. What does that mean ? Is that on the 3rd row then the next 4th row i.e row 7 then row 10 etc or every 3& 4th row i.e row 3 & 4 then 6 & 8. I intend knitting the sleeves flat. Not sure what the word alternating means in this pattern. Many thanks.

Dear Maxine you should cast off at the beginning of every row from each side( = on the same side every other row), to cast off 4 sts 9 times, cast off 4 sts at the beginning of the next 18 rows. Happy knitting!

05.08.2019 kl. 23:37:DROPS Design answered:
If you are working in the round, then you cast off 6 sts mid under arm (usually divided with a marker). However, if you are knitting back and forth, then bind off the first 3 sts on the right side, and then, the first 3 stitches on the wrong side of work. Then you start shapping the sleeve cap the same way: 4 sts at the beginning of each row (right and wrong side). Last, you bind off the remaining sts. Happy Knitting!

Dear Joana, if you want to make this knitted flat on straight needles (instead of knitting the sleeves on the round on DPN's), you shoul increase one stitch at the beginning of the row (in the 2nd stitch) and at the end of the row (in the stitch before the last stitch). Happy Knitting!

Dear Mrs Dinis, when you work in the round there is no seam, when you work back and forth you will have to make a seam, so that you should add 2 sts to the number of sts to cast on (= 1 edge st on each side) for the seam allowance. Read more details here. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Dinis, now continue working the shoulder on one side (where the yarn ball is), ie turn and work next row (from armhole towards neck), turn and at the beginning of the row from neck, cast off the first 2 stitches. Continue now working to the finished length, cast off and cut the yarn. Join now the yarn to the other shoulder and work the same way, ie casting off the 2 sts at the beg of a row from neck towards armhole. Happy knitting!

09.06.2019 kl. 10:35:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dinis, you can first mark the middle 30-32 sts (see size) with a marker on either side of these stitches, then work to the first marker, bind off the next 30-32 sts (= to the 2nd marker) and work the remaining stitches on needle = you have now bound off for neck and the stitches on each side are for shoulders, turn and work now first shoulder as explained to the end, cut the yarn and join to finish the 2nd shoulder. Happy knitting!

02.06.2019 kl. 10:45:DROPS Design answered:
Hi Joanna, The middle stitches are the lowest part of the neckline at the back. Once they are bound off, each shoulder is continued separately. On the next row bind off 2 more stitches at the neck end of the row. Then continue working until the length measures 46 (46-48) cm, then bind off the remaining stitches for the shoulder. Do the same on the other side/shoulder. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Dinis, you cast off for the armhole on each front piece (= at the beg of WS row on right front piece / at the beg of RS row on left front piece): 3 sts 1 (1-2) times, 2 sts 2 (2-2) times, 1 st 1 (2-3) times = 56 (59-59) sts - For back piece, you will cast off the same way, but at the beg of every row = both from RS and from WS so that the armholes are shaped as on each front piece. Happy knitting!

25.04.2019 kl. 12:50:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dinis, after you have finished pieces and seams, you will first pick up stitches for the front bands, then pick up 110-120 sts around the neckline and knit 2 rows for the neck edge = the neck will then sew much regular, ie as on the picture. Happy knitting!

21.04.2019 kl. 14:16:DROPS Design answered:
Hi Joanna, You are working each front piece separately and at the armhole end of every second row on each front piece bind off as follows, depending on the size you are working; so for example in size S you bind off 3 stitches one time, then 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 1 time with a row between each bind-off row where you do not bind off. Hope this helps and happy knitting!

Dear Joana, you have to cast off these 4 sts for the armhole, so you have to work them not as a decrease but as when you finish the work. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Dinis, on this row you will bind off the stitches for armhole dividing front and back pieces: work the first 64 (68-72) sts, bind off the next 4 sts for armhole, work the next 126 (134-142) sts for back piece, bind off the next 4 sts for armhole = 64 (68-72) sts remain for 2nd front piece, work these stitches and continue now each piece separately. Dear Mrs Dinis, buttonholes will be created when you will work the right front edge - see Assembly at the bottom of the pattern. I am using the recommended Safron Cotton yarn but am struggling with the ribbing. It\'s not stretchy or springing closed. I know this can be an issue with cotton vs animal fibers but mine so far doesn\'t look nearly as tight as even the photo in the pattern. I\'ve even gone down a needle size (using #3 vs #4 in order to get gauge) yet my ribbing still looks flat. Do you have any tips to fix this....or know how the person who knitted the sweater in the photo achieved this tighter rib?

Dear Mrs Girard, see increase mid under arm in previous answer - increase 33 times alternately on every 3rd and 4th round as follows: work 1 round with inc, *2 rounds without inc, 1 round with inc, 3 rounds without inc, 1 round with inc*, and repeat from *-* until you have inc a total of 33 times and you get 116 sts. Dear Mrs Girard, you will increase mid under arm by working until 1 st remain before beg of round, inc 1 st, work last st on round, (marker beg of round), work 1 st and inc 1 st = you have inc 2 sts mid under arm (ie on each side of beg of round). Happy knitting!
