Let’s get started!

Sizes: 35/37 - 38/40 - 42/44

SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The slippers are worked back and forth in squares before being sewn together to finish. We work Slipper 1 = M.1A in this lesson; when working slipper 2, you need to use the colours shown in M.1B.

CHANGING-STRAND TIP:
Start with a strand of length approx. 25 cm on each new ball. This strand-end is used during assembly.

MEASURING TIP:
It is important to maintain the knitting tension and be careful when measuring, so the squares have equal sides. The diagonal of 1 square x 2 is equivalent to the length of the slipper.

COLOUR:
The 8-coloured slipper is worked according to the colour diagrams (M.1A and B) which give you the colours of the different squares; M.1A = Slipper 1 and M.1B = Slipper 2

SQUARES:
See M.2 for square-number.

ASSEMBLY:
See M.2 for assembly. M.3 shows the position of the squares after assembly

GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
Knit each row - 1 ridge = 2 knitted rows.

SLIPPER 1 (M.1A):
Cast on 10-11-12 stitches with needle size 7 mm with sea green (or dark pink when working M.1B). Read Measuring tip! Work garter stitch - see description above - for 8½-9-10 cm (= square 1 / colour 66, sea green).

Change to orchid and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm (= square 2 / /colour 04, orchid).

Change to tan and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm (= square 3 / colour 23, tan).

Change to plum and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm (= square 4 / colour 20, plum).

Change to blue/violet and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm (= square 5 / colour 21, blue/violet).

Change to dark blue and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm (= square 6 / colour 15, dark blue).

When you have worked 6 squares in a row and the piece measures 51-54-60 cm, cast off.

Then pick up 10-11-12 stitches on the right side of square 2 with amethyst (= square 7 / colour 36, amethyst). Work garter stitch for -9-10 cm, cast off.

Pick up 10-11-12 stitches on the left side of square 6 with dark pink (= square 8 / colour 50, dark pink) and work garter stitch for -9-10 cm, cast off.

Now the slipper is assembled.
Fold the slipper and sew squares 5 and 8 together neatly, edge to edge, see A in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 7 and 8 can be sewn together edge to edge, see B in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 3 and 8 can be sewn together edge to edge, see C in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 4 and 6 can be sewn together edge to edge, see D in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 5 and 6 can be sewn together edge to edge, see E in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 2 and 3 can be sewn together edge to edge, see F in M.2.

Fold the slipper so squares 1 and 4 can be sewn together edge to edge, see G in M.2.

The sole on the slipper is 24-26-28 cm in length. Work 1 more slipper in the same way but according to M.1B for the colours.

Slipper M.1A – turned to the left. Slipper M.1A- turned to the right.

CROCHET EDGE:
Work a crochet-edge around the opening with colour of your choice and using hook size 8 mm.

Start in a stitch mid-back and fasten the strand with 1 slip stitch. Continue in the round as follows: * 1 double crochet, 2 chain stitches, skip 0,5 - 1,0 cm *, repeat from*-*, finish with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet.
