Time to learn some new techniques!

Let’s begin working on clue #6! We will crochet 8 new rows and add some more colours to our shawl!

As usual, you will find videos to assist you at the end of the clue. But if you still have questions, you can always leave them using the form at the bottom of the page!

First a little information

STRIPES:
The thread is cut after each row, unless the next row are the same colour. Fasten the threads in the side at the end.
ROW 33: bordeaux (colour j)
ROW 34: ice blue (colour h)
ROW 35: coral (colour c)
ROW 36: ice blue (colour h)
ROWS 37-39: powder (colour a)
ROW 40: mustard (colour b)

PATTERN:
In clue #6 we will crochet using diagram A.5a, A.5b, A.6a and A.6b. A.5a and A.6a shows how row begins. NOTE: The beginning of rows is drawn above each other in the same diagram even though they are worked alternately the right and left side of the shawl and not above each other.

COLOUR CHANGE:
When switching colours, work as follows: Work last stitch on row with the first colour, but wait with last yarn over and pull through, switch to next colour and work the last yarn over and pull through on the last stitch with this colour, then work next row.

Brief version

The marking threads are again added in the piece on row 37, without being worked. Add the first marking thread after 15 stitches, add the next 11 marking threads with 30 stitches between each marking thread, there are 15 stitches left on row after the last marking thread. Cut thread after row 39 and work row 40 from the right side. Row 40 begins with 1 slip stitch into the 4th chain stitch from previous row.

Need help to get started?

Here’s a more detailed description of how to start with Clue #6. We have marked where we are working in the diagram with red.

Now work rows 33-35 in A.5a and A.5b with stripes and pattern, and read COLOUR CHANGE!

When row 35 have been worked, the piece measures approx. 55 cm between the first chain stitch space and the middle of the last row worked. There are 60 fans (= 30 repeats of A.5b) on row.

Now work A.6b (A.6a shows how row begins and are worked in addition to A.6b).

ROW 36 is worked from the wrong side: Fold row 35 (row with coral fans - colour c) so the right side touches the right side and work around row 34 (ice blue row – colour h) from the shawl’s back side as follows:
4 chain stitches, 1 double crochet around the first half treble crochet, (4 chain stitches, 1 double crochet around next half treble crochet) work like this along the shawl and end with 1 double crochet around the last half treble crochet on row = 120 chain stitch spaces.

Work row 37.

Then add the marking threads into the piece once again, without working, as follows: Add the first marking thread after 15 stitches, add the next 11 marking threads with 30 stitches between each marking thread, there are 15 stitches left on row after the last marking thread.

Continue with rows 38 and 39. Cut thread.

Work row 40 from the right side, so that both row 39 and 40 are worked from the right side. Begin row 40 with 1 slip stitch in the 4th chain stitch from previous row.
