Time for a puzzle!

We are nearing the end! Have you already been thinking about how you would like to assemble the squares on your blanket? We will show you in this clue how we have put them together, but you can of course assemble them on a different way – it’s totally up to you and your imagination!

If you wish to make the blanket larger or simply different, you can download and print this .pdf with all the squares, to cut out and do trial runs with!

Enjoy!

We are going to assemble the blanket with white.

Here you can see how we have put the squares together. (Click on the image to enlarge it).

Let’s get going!

We will begin by putting the six large squares together.

Start with the two squares top left – one from clue #5 and one from clue #9.

Work 2 squares (#5 and #9) together as follows: Lay them wrong side to wrong side and start with 1 single crochet through both corners (the chain-spaces), work through both layers with 1 single crochet in each single crochet to the end of the row. Finish with 1 single crochet through both corners (the chain-spaces) = 42 single crochets, cut the strand.

Now we are going to add a third square to the two we have already worked, underneath the square from clue #9, as shown in the picture below.

Continue by working the other three large squares together, clues #9, #2 and #2, in the same way as shown here.

Now work all six large squares together as follows:

Lay them wrong side to wrong side and start with 1 single crochet through both corners, work through both layers with 1 single crochet in each single crochet and 1 single crochet through both corners to the end of the row. Finish with 1 single crochet through both corners. Cut and fasten all the strands.

Now work the small squares together to a «frame» which is worked together with the large squares to finish. Work 2 and 2 small squares together as shown in the diagram below. Lay wrong side to wrong side and start with 1 single crochet through both corners, work through both layers with 1 single crochet in each single crochet and 1 single crochet through both corners across both squares = 28 single crochets (12 single crochets + corners = 14 stitches on each square). Cut the strand.

Work the last 4 squares, one in each corner, in the same way as the squares above, but work 2 single crochets in the same corner on the outermost square (#3) when you turn the piece (= 28 single crochets). Cut and fasten all the strands.

Now work the outermost squares together with the innermost squares as follows: Begin at the star on the diagram, lay wrong side to wrong side and work through both layers, start in the corner of the innermost square (#7) and the corner on the outermost square (#8) with 1 single crochet. Then work through both layers with 1 single crochet in each single crochet and 1 single crochet through all the corners, continue in this way to the end of the round. Cut the strand.

Now work the large squares together with the small squares as described earlier with 14 stitches in each of the small squares (ie 1 single crochet in each of the 12 single crochets and 1 single crochet in each of the 2 corners). Cut and fasten all the strands.

Finished!

When all the squares have been assembled, the blanket measures approx. 105 x 80 cm.

You are now ready for our next clue – the beginning of our blanket’s edge!
