Clue #10 - 2nd edge = 4 crocheted rounds around our flowers

We have reached clue #10 in our DROPS Mystery Blanket CAL and we are making progress with our edges!

This 2nd edge clue consists of 4 rounds with different colors and techniques, to start building a beautiful edge to match all our lovely flower squares!

2nd edge - doubles:

ROUND 1: Switch to light turquoise (no. 19) - READ COLOR CHANGE and work 3 ch (= 1st dc).

COLOR CHANGE:

When changing color work as follows: Before last pull through of last loop on hook, switch color, pull the last loop on hook through with the new color.

Work 1 dc in every sc, 1 dc around every ch and 1 dc around ch-spaces in the side the entire round, BUT work 2 dc in one ch-space on every short side (= inc 1 dc on every short side).

Work as follows in the ch-space in the corners: 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc.

Complete description of ROUND 1:

ROUND 1: Switch to light turquoise (no. 19) and work 3 ch (= 1st dc). Work 1 dc in every sc, 1 dc around every ch and 1 dc around ch-spaces in the side the entire round, BUT work 2 dc in one ch-space on every short side (= inc 1 dc on every short side), work as follows in the ch-space in the corners: 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc. Finish round with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 516 dc, 12 ch. READ COLOR CHANGE! Do not cut the yarn. Fasten off opal green (no. 17).

ROUND 2: Flower buds.

1st long side:
Switch to pink (no. 15) and work ch 2, * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 FLOWER BUD (= see explanation under) in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, *, repeat from *-*.

1 FLOWER BUD:

Work 3 dc tog in the same st as follows: Work 1 dc but wait with last pull through (= 2 sts on hook), then work 2 dc more in same st but wait with last pull through (= 4 loops on hook) and pull yarn through all 4 loops on hook.

In the corners:
Work as follows in ch-space: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc.

Complete description of ROUND 2:

ROUND 2: Flower buds.
1st long side:
Switch to pink (no. 15) and work ch 2, * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 flower bud (= see explanation above) in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, *, repeat from *-* 38 times in total. Finish with one sc in last sc.

1st corner:
Work as follows in ch-space: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc.

1st short side:
Work * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 flower bud in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, *, repeat from *-* 25 times in total. Finish with one sc in last sc.

2nd corner:
Same as 1st corner.

2nd long side:
Work * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 flower bud in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* 39 times in total. Finish with one sc in last sc.

3rd corner:
Same as 1st corner.

2nd short side:
Work * 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 flower bud in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* 25 times in total. Finish with one sc in last sc.

4th corner + finish:
Work as follows in ch-space: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc. Work 1 sc in next sc (= on 1st long side), ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 flower bud in next dc and finish with 1 sl st in 2nd ch at beg of round = 140 sc, 128 flower bud and 268 ch. READ COLOR CHANGE! Cut the yarn.

Switch to light turquoise (no. 19) and work 3 ch (= 1st dc). Work 1 dc in every sc, 1 dc around every ch and 1 dc at the top of flower bud the entire round.

Work as follows in the ch-space in the corners: 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc.

ROUND 3: - doubles:

Switch to light turquoise (no. 19) and work 3 ch (= 1st dc). Work 1 dc in every sc, 1 dc around every ch and 1 dc at the top of flower bud the entire round, work as follows in the ch-space in the corners: 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc. Finish round with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. = 540 dc, 12 ch READ COLOR CHANGE! Do not cut the yarn. Fasten off pink (no. 15).

ROUND 4 - sc and ch:
Switch to opal green (no. 17) and work 1 ch (= 1st sc), * ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Read CROCHET TIP-1.

CROCHET TIP-1: Do not crochet too tight on rounds with 1 sc + 1 ch.

Work as follows in 1st corner: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc.

Complete description of ROUND 4:

ROUND 4 - sc and ch:
Switch to opal green (no. 17) and work 1 ch (= 1st sc), * ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Read CROCHET TIP-1.

Work as follows in the ch-space in the corners: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc, and 1 sc in next dc.

Finish after last corner:* 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* 2 more times and finish with 1 sl st in 1st st on round = 280 sc, 276 ch. Do not cut the yarn. Fasten off light turquoise (no. 19).

Tutorial Video

IMPORTANT: The pictures and the video show an example where we crochet the edge around 1 single square. You need to crochet this 2nd edge around the whole blanket (40 squares).

Hei Hint nr. 10, 1. omgang. Hvor mange staver blir det på hver langside og hver kortside? Det står at det skal være tilsammen 516 st. Jeg må nesten jukse noe da jeg ikke fikk riktig antall masker rundt i hint nr. 9. Det står altså "= 516 st, 4 3-lm-bue i hvert hjørne", Hva menes det med 4 3-lm-bue? Hei Elaine. Med 4 3-lm-bue i hvert hjørne, menes det at teppet har 4 hjørner der det er en luftmaskebue på 3-luftmasker i hvert hjørne. God Fornøyelse!

Hej Tine. Du kan göre det paa to maader - enten flere firkanter i midten (Se her vedr. störrelse) og du kan fordoble kanten - dvs, haekle to gange af hvert clue i stedet
