In this DROPS video we show how to make an invisible cast on in double knitting.
Cast on this way with two colors alternating for an invisible start on your double knitted piece. The starting slipknot will be dropped after a couple rows and is not to be included in the number of stitches to be cast on.
You cast on for both sides at the same time, and the stitches alternately belongs to front and back side of work. Make sure to cast on an even number of stitches, so that you will have the same amount of sts in the front and in the back. When working first row make sure strands are twisted to secure first stitch. Make sure to knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as shown in our video.

Do you have a video for double knitting cast on with two colours in the round?
22.04.2022 - 22:43DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Plewman, we only have this one, but you can work the first row as shown in the video then join in the round at the end of the first row to continue in the round. When weaving the end you can then fix the small gap at the join. Happy knitting! 25.04.2022 - 08:52Sunny wrote:
Hi, short question - when will the starting slipknot be dropped, and how do I proceed with it before dropping it?
23.11.2021 - 20:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sunny, on time code 04:10 you can see how to work the last 2 stitches on needle short before dropping off the knot from needle, and how to turn and work the next row. Happy knitting! 24.11.2021 - 08:05Hillevi wrote:
Veldig fin video!
10.08.2020 - 11:06Julie wrote:
