How to knit backwards

Keywords: bobbles, short rows,

When knitting short rows as on a string, a belt, a headband, working over bobbles, turning heels, or working short rows, being able to master backwards knitting will save you a lot of time and effort not having to keep turning your work back and forth all the time.

In this DROPS video we show you both continental knitting as well as US knitting and later also an example of knitting a bobble with this technique. Make sure to wrap the yarn the right way around the needle when going from left to right, so that your stitches are facing the right direction on your next row.

Bon tricot!

Thank you! I was several rows into and it was getting very unwieldy to turn. I started knitting backwards instead of turning. By the time I was finished I was knitting backwards almost as fast as forwards. (It was a large blanket)
