How to knit a wave pattern

Keywords: wave pattern,

In this DROPS video we shows how to knit a wave pattern using decreases and yarn overs.

In this video we are following a pattern repeat with 17 sts in width and 4 rows in height.
1st row (RS): K2 tog 3 times, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K2 tog 3 times.
2nd row (WS: K all sts (they will be purled seen from RS)
3rd row: K all sts
4th row: P all sts

When casting off, work the first row of M.1 whilst casting off (to make the binding off edge wavy too).

You must read the pattern to be able to follow. You’ll find patterns where you can use this technique by clicking on the pictures below.

The video above can be used in the following patterns

Hvad med mønstrets 3 x 2 sammen og fortsættelse af mønstret???? Der kommer til at mangler 3 masker i hver række hvor mønstret skal forekomme. Det står og vises ingen steder på opskrift 101-4 m.m.

What are the multiples for casting on?

10.05.2011 - 17:43

DROPS Design answered:

Carol in the video we cast on 2 x 17 sts + 2 sts (i.e 1 edge st in garter st each side). So we cast on a total of 36 sts. For each extra repeat of pattern add another 17 sts.

How do you finish this? To get the same pattern to the end as in the beginning... Sorry, I haven't knitted a lot...

Silvia answered:

Essi, to get the same wavy pattern both at the beginning and end, when binding off work first row of diagram at the same time that you bind off stitches.
