GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.
----------------------------------------------------------

TOP:
Piece is worked in two parts.

BACK PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth on circular needle because of no of sts.
Cast on 91-103-115-127-139 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Paris. Work first row as follows from RS: 3 edge sts in GARTER ST - see explanation above, work pattern according to diagram A.1 until 4 sts remain on row, work 1st st in A.1 and finish with 3 edge sts in garter st. Continue the pattern like this - NOTE: On 7th row in diagram work 1st st in A.1 in stockinette st at the end of row.
When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7. Work next row as follows from RS: 3 edge sts in garter st, repeat A.2A over the next 72-84-96-108-120 sts (= 6-7-8-9-10 repetitions of 12 sts), work A.2B (= 13 sts) and finish with 3 edge sts in garter st. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, work A.1 again the same way as last time with 3 edge sts in garter st in each side. On next to last row in A.1 (i.e. from RS), vents ends and cast on 1 new st at the end of this row (edge st for seam). Work last row in A.1, dec AT THE SAME TIME 6 sts evenly in all size and cast on 1 new st at the end of row (edge st for seam) = 87-99-111-123-135 sts on needle. Continue to work pattern as follows (1st row = RS): Work 1 edge st in garter st, repeat A.4A over the next 15-21-27-33-39 sts, work A.3A (= 55 sts), repeat A.4B over the next 15-21-27-33-39 sts and finish with 1 edge st in garter st. Continue pattern like this. When A.3A has been worked 1 time vertically repeat A.3B upwards over the middle 55 sts (work the other sts as before).
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 32-33-34-35-36 cm / 12½"-13"-13½"-13 3/4"-14 1/4"'', cast on 5 new sts at the end of the next 2 rows for sleeves = 97-109-121-133-145 sts on needle. Then continue pattern as follows: Work 3 edge st in garter st (= sleeve edge), repeat A.4A over the next 18-24-30-36-42 sts (make sure that pattern fits onwards), continue with A.3B over the next 55 sts as before, repeat A.4B over the next 18-24-30-36-42 sts and finish with 3 edge sts in garter st (= sleeve edge). Work until piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm / 21¼''-22''-22¾''-23 5/8''-24 3/8'', adjust so that next row is worked from RS. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 and work A.1 back and forth with 3 edge sts in garter st in each side. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm / 21½"-22½"-23 1/4"-24"-24 3/4", bind off the middle 27-27-31-31-31 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue pattern as before and bind off 1 st for neck at beg on next 2 rows from neck = 33-39-43-49-55 sts remain on the shoulder. When A.1 has been worked, LOOSELY bind off with K from RS. Repeat on the other shoulder.

FRONT PIECE:
Cast on and work as on back piece until piece measures 44-46-48-50-52 cm / 17 1/4"-18"-19"-19 3/4"-20½". Now slip the middle 15-15-19-19-19 sts on a stitch holder for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue the pattern as before and bind off for neck at beg of every row from neck as follows: bind off 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 4 times = 33-39-43-49-55 sts remain on shoulder. Work until piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm / 21¼''-22''-22¾''-23 5/8''-24 3/8'', adjust so that next row is worked from RS. Switch to needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 and work A.1 back and forth with 1 edge st in garter st towards the neck and 3 edge sts in garter st towards sleeve edge. When A.1 has been worked, LOOSELY bind off with K from RS. Repeat on the other shoulder.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew shoulder seams inside bind-off edge.
Sew underarm and side seams in one inside 1 edge st down to vents.

NECK EDGE:
Pick up from RS approx. 94 to 114 sts around the neck (includes sts on stitch holder at the front) on a short circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Paris. P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Then loosely bind off with K.
