GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.
Dec for buttonholes on right band. 1 buttonhole = K tog second and third st from edge and make 1 YO. Dec for buttonholes when piece measures:
SIZE S: 15, 24, 33, 42 and 51 cm
SIZE M: 13, 23, 33, 43 and 53 cm
SIZE L: 15, 23, 31, 39, 47 and 55 cm.
SIZE XL: 12, 21, 30, 39, 48 and 57 cm.
SIZE XXL: 14, 23, 32, 41, 50 and 59 cm.
SIZE XXXL: 13, 21, 29, 37, 45, 53 and 61 cm
See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Choose diagram for correct size. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.
To avoid the knitting tension to tighten when working pattern, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Or use a larger needle size
If the pattern is too tight.
Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front.
Cast on 125-133-147-163-177-191 sts (incl 4 band sts in each side towards mid front) on circular needle size 7 mm with light grey. P 1 row from WS. Then work rib (= K 1/P 1) with 4 band sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above and 1 K in each side towards mid front (seen from RS).
When rib measures 5 cm, switch to circular needle size 8 mm. K 1 row from RS while dec 20-22-24-28-30-32 sts evenly (do not dec over bands) = 105-111-123-135-147-159 sts. Work in stocking st with 4 band sts in garter st in each side towards mid front. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION and remember BUTTONHOLES on right band - see explanation above. When piece measures approx. 12-13-11-12-11-12 cm (adjust so that next row is worked from RS), work pattern according to diagram A.1 - NOTE: Pattern beg and ends with a dot inside band in each side. When piece measures approx. 32-33-34-35-36-37 cm – adjust so that 1 row in stocking st has been worked from WS with light grey after a row with dots – cast off for armholes as follows from RS: Work 25-27-30-32-35-38 sts (= right front piece), cast off 6-6-6-8-8-8 sts for armhole, work 43-45-51-55-61-67 sts (= back piece), cast off 6-6-6-8-8-8 sts for armhole and work the remaining 25-27-30-32-35-38 sts (= left front piece). Put piece aside and knit the sleeves.
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 26-26-28-28-30-30 sts on double pointed needles size 7 mm with light grey. K 1 round. Then work rib = K 1/P 1. When rib measures 5 cm, switch to double pointed needles size 8 mm. K 1 round and dec 1 st on round = 25-25-27-27-29-29 sts. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 10 cm, inc 2 sts mid under sleeve. Repeat inc every 4-3½-3½-3-3-3 cm 9-10-10-11-11-11 times = 43-45-47-49-51-51 sts. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures approx. 32-32-31-31-30-30 cm, work pattern in the round according to diagram A.1 - NOTE: St with arrow in diagram should fit middle st on round - count outwards where round beg. When piece measures approx. 44-44-43-43-42-42 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of wider shoulders) - adjust so that 1 round with light grey has been worked after 1 round with dots, cast off the middle 6-6-6-8-8-8 sts under sleeve = 37-39-41-41-43-43 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and knit another sleeve.
Slip sleeves on to same circular needle as body where armholes were cast off (without working them first) = 167-177-193-201-217-229 sts on needle. P 1 row from WS with light grey while dec 10-10-6-4-10-2 sts evenly (continue bands in garter st until finished measurements and do not dec over bands) = 157-167-187-197-207-227 sts. Work 0-2-2-2-0-2 rows in stocking st with light grey.
Work next row as follows from RS - READ KNITTING TIP: 4 band sts in garter st, work pattern according to diagram A.2A until 13 sts remain (choose diagram for correct size), work A.2B (= 9 sts - choose diagram for correct size) and finish with 4 band sts in garter st. Continue pattern like this while AT THE SAME TIME dec as shown in diagram - NOTE: Continue bands in garter st and now work with base colour in pattern.
When A.2 has been worked (finish after a row marked with arrow for correct size), there are 68-72-79-84-88-96 sts on needle and piece measures approx. 51-53-55-57-59-61 cm up to shoulder.
ELEVATION IN BACK OF NECK:
For better shape work an elevation in the back of neck as follows: Beg from WS and P with light grey until 10-10-12-12-14-14 sts remain on needle, turn and K back until 10-10-12-12-14-14 sts remain in the other side. Turn and P until 20-20-24-24-28-28 sts remain on needle, turn and K back until 20-20-24-24-28-28 sts remain in the other side. Turn and P back over all sts.
K 1 row from RS with light grey while dec 14-18-21-26-26-34 sts evenly (work bands in garter st and do not dec over bands) = 54-54-58-58-62-62 sts remain on needle.
Switch to circular needle size 7 and light grey green and P 1 row (work bands in garter st), K 1 row, P 1 row, K 1 row and P 1 row before LOOSELY casting off with K from RS: Jacket measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm up to shoulder.
Sew the openings under the sleeves. Sew on buttons.
