NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. CROCHET INFO:
Replace first sc at beg of round with 1 ch. Finish every round with 1 sl st in first ch from beg of round.

DECREASE TIP:
Dec at beg and end of every row by working 2 sc into 1 as follows:
Work 1 sc but wait with last pull through = 2 sts on hook. Work next sc but on last pull through, pull yarn through all loops on hook = 1 sc dec.

HAT:
Ch 4 on hook size 5 mm / H/8 with olive and form a ring with 1 sl st in 1st ch.
READ CROCHET INFO!
ROUND 1: Work 8 sc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 sc in every sc = 16 sc.
ROUND 3: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 sc.
ROUND 4: * 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 32 sc.
ROUND 5: Work 1 sc in every sc = 32 sc.
ROUND 6: * 1 sc in each of the next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 40 sc.
ROUND 7: * 1 sc in each of the next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 48 sc.
ROUND 8: * 1 sc in each of the next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 56 sc.
ROUND 9: * 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 64 sc.
ROUND 10: * 1 sc in each of the next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 72 sc.
Finish inc in size S/M here, now continue to work sc in the round, work continuous rounds in a spiral without finishing each round with a sl st in 1st st.

ROUND 11: Only applies to Size L/XL: * 1 sc in each of the next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* the rest of the round = 80 sc.
Finish inc in size L/XL here, now continue to work sc in the round, work continuous rounds in a spiral without finishing each round with a sl st in 1st st.

Work until hat measures approx. 18-20 cm / 7”-8” from the top.
Work next round as follows: ch 3, 1 dc in next sc, * ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sc *, repeat from *-* the entire round, finish with ch 1, skip 1 sc and work 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round.
Work next round as follows: Work 1 sc in every dc and ch from previous round.
Fasten off.

EAR FLAPS:
Beg working approx. 5 cm / 2’’ from mid back. Work 16 sc along the edge of hat, turn. Work sc back and forth while at the same time dec 1 sc at beg and end of every row – READ DECREASE TIP! Continue with dec until 2 sc remain. 8 rows in total have now been worked. Repeat on the other side of hat.

TASSEL:
Cut 6 strands of 10 cm / 4’’, fold them double. Thread loop in through tip at the bottom of ear flap, place ends through loop and tighten loop.
Repeat on the other ear flap.
