GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

DOUBLE ST:
RS: K1 in st below the K st on needle. (i.e. sts from the two
previous rows are worked as one).
WS: P1.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
Cast on 82-88 sts on circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 with Nepal. Work in garter st back and forth on needle until piece measures approx. 3.5 cm / 1¼” (1st row = WS). K 1 row from RS while AT THE SAME TIME inc 30-44 sts evenly on row = 112-132 sts, inc with YOs and work them twisted on next row to avoid holes. Work next row as follows:
Row 1 (= WS): 1 edge st in garter st, * K 10-12, 1 YO, P 1 *, repeat from *-* 9-9 more times and finish with 1 edge st in garter st.
Row 2 (= RS): 1 edge st in garter st, * 1 DOUBLE ST:
– see explanation above, K YO from previous row twisted, K 10-12 *, repeat from *-* 9-9 more times and finish with 1 edge st in garter st = 122-142 sts where 10 sts are double sts.
Row 3 (= WS): 1 edge st in garter st, * K 11-13, 1 double st *, repeat from *-* 9-9 more times and finish with 1 edge st in garter st.
Row 4 (= RS): 1 edge st in garter st, * 1 double st, K 11-13 *, repeat from *-* 9-9 more times and finish with 1 edge st in garter st.
Repeat row 3 and 4 upwards.
When piece measures 12 cm / 4¾’’, dec on next row from RS by K 2 tog after every double st = 112-132 sts.
Repeat dec every 4th row 9-11 more times = 22-22 sts remain on needle.
Continue in stockinette st, on next row from RS dec by K 2 tog across.
Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts and tighten tog. Sew hat tog mid back, sew inside edge st in each side.

NECK WARMER:
Cast on 38-44 sts on circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 with Nepal and work back and forth on needle. K 1 row from RS and continue as follows:
Row 1 (= WS): * K 12-14, P 1 *, repeat from *-* 1 more time and finish with K 12-14. Turn piece.
Row 2 (= RS): * K 12-14, 1 DOUBLE ST – see explanation above *, repeat from *-* 1 more time and finish with K 12-14. Insert a marker in the 2nd double st from RS. Turn piece.
Row 3 (= WS): * K 12-14, 1 double st *, repeat from *-* 1 more time and finish with K 12-14. Turn piece.
Row 4 (= RS): * K 12-14, 1 double st *, repeat from *-* 1 more time and finish with K 12-14.
Repeat row 3 and 4 until piece measures approx. 50-54 cm / 19¾”-21¼”.
Make sure that last row is 3rd row, insert 1 marker in 1st double st from RS and loosely bind off on next row from RS.
Place the neck warmer double with RS outwards, place the neck warmer so that st with markers are edge to edge (outer sides are displaced) and sew tog with small stitches.
Fasten off.
