DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES and CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm [16’’]) SIZE 4 mm/US 6 – or size needed to get 19 sts x 26 rows in stockinette st with 1 strand Fabel and 1 strand Kid-Silk = 10 x 10 cm [4’’ x 4’’].
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (40 cm [16’’]) SIZE 3 mm/US 2.5 – for rib.
DROPS CROCHET Hook size 3 mm [C] - for edge.

NECK WARMER:
Size: one-size
Circumference: approx. 59 cm [23’’]

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows.

PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagram shows all rows seen from RS.

HAT:
The entire hat is worked with 1 strand Fabel + 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) and piece is worked in the round on circular needle.
Cast on 96-104 sts on circular needle size 3 mm [US 2.5] with off white Fabel + Kid-Silk.
K 1 round, then work rib (= K 4/P 4).
When rib measures 4 cm [1½”’’], switch to circular needle size 4 mm [US 6]. Work in stockinette st while AT THE SAME TIME inc 16 sts evenly = 112-120 sts.
When piece measures 6 cm [2½’’], work PATTERN - see explanation above.
When piece measures 12-13 cm [4 ¾”-5”], switch to salt and pepper Fabel + Kid-Silk.
When piece measures 18-19 cm [7”-7½’’], continue in stockinette st.
When piece measures 18-21 cm [7”-8 ¼”], insert 8-10 markers in the hat, 14-12 sts apart.
On next round, dec 1 st after every marker by K 2 tog (switch to double pointed needles when needed).
Repeat dec every other round 4-4 more times and then every round a total of 8-6 times = 8-10 sts remain on needle.
On next round K2 tog around.
Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
The hat measures approx. 25-27 cm [9 ¾”-10½”] vertically.

EDGE:
Crochet an edge around the bottom of hat on hook size 3 mm [C] with 2 strands Kid-Silk as follows:
1 sc in first st, * 3 ch, skip approx. ½ cm [1/4’’], 1 sc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in first sc.

POMPOM:
Make a small pompom with an approx. diameter of 4 cm [1½’’] with salt and pepper Fabel + Kid-Silk and fasten it at the top of hat.

NECK WARMER:
The entire neck warmer is worked with 1 strand Fabel + 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands).
Cast on 128 sts on circular needle size 3 mm [US 2.5] with off white Fabel + Kid-Silk.
K 1 round, then work rib (= K 2/P 2).
When rib measures 8 cm [3’’], switch to circular needle size 4 mm [US 6].
Work in stockinette st while AT THE SAME TIME dec 16 sts evenly = 112 sts.
When piece measures 10 cm [4’’] , work PATTERN - see explanation above.
When piece measures 12 cm [4 3/4’’], switch to salt and pepper Fabel + Kid-Silk.
When piece measures 19 cm [7½’’], continue in stockinette st AT THE SAME TIME work next round as follows: Work the first 4 sts on needle in GARTER ST – see explanation above, work in stockinette st the remainder of row and cast on 4 new sts at end of row for hem = 116 sts.
Work back and forth in stockinette st with 4 edge sts in garter st in each side button band.
When 1 cm [½’’] has been worked from beg of button band, cast/bind off for 1 buttonhole at beg of row (from RS) as follows: K tog second and third st from edge and make 1 YO.
Bind off for another buttonhole 2 cm [3/4’’] after the first (piece measures approx. 22 cm [8 3/4’’]).
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 21 cm [8 1/4’’], switch to circular needle size 3 mm [US 2.5] and work next row from RS as follows: 4 edge sts in garter st, * K 4, P 4 *, repeat from *-* until 8 sts remain, finish with K 4 and 4 edge sts in garter st.
Continue like this until rib measures 3 cm [1’’] and then loosely bind off with K over K and P over P.

ASSEMBLY:
Fold the rib at the bottom of neck warmer double in towards WS and fasten with loose stitches.
Neck warmer measures approx. 20 cm [8’’] vertically. Sew on buttons.

EDGE:
Crochet an edge at the top around neck warmer on hook size 3 mm [C] with 2 strands Kid-Silk as follows: 1 sc in first st, * ch 3, skip approx. ½ cm [1/4’’], 1 sc in next st *, repeat from *-* along the entire edge.
