I'm having a problem with the chart for this. I'm an experienced knitter, and all was going well until I got up to row 40. It's just not clear how the rows fit together after this, and I'm wondering if there is a correction for the chart. If not, is there a better chart showing the entire width of the pattern, rather than just the 22 stitch width? It's a pretty pattern, but no good for anything if I can't finish it. Thanks for your help.

Dear Melanie, the 22 stitch charts are repeated the whole round. Before the decreases, all of the rows should be fitting correctly, just as before. When you start the decreases, you slip the last stitch from the previous repeat of the charts over the first stitch of the current repeat to decrease 1 stitch. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Pattern Montreal no.de-086. I use knitpro circular needles. Their website states that 2.5 mm needles in USA equals 3.00mm needles in the UK. Could you confirm that the needles required for this pattern are UK 2.5 mm and UK 3.5mm short needles. I also have a query re the correction to A1. Could you confirm that this already been corrected on the pattern . This is the first time I have seen your website hence the questions. Many Thanks

Dear Mrs Gowing, I'm not sure about the difference of size - maybe check with them? most important is here to get the correct tension. Read more about tension here. About the correction, if you print the pattern after the correction, then pattern online is right, if you printed the pattern before, it might be wise to print it one more time. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by getting the thread between 2 sts from previous row - K this st twisted, i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front to avoid holes. PATTERN: See diagram A.1 (for size S/M) and A.2 (for size L/XL), diagrams show all rows in one pattern repetition for the entire hat. Work entire pattern in stocking st. DECREASE TIP: Dec in every repetition as follows: Work pattern until 1 st remains before next repetition, * slip next st (= last st from previous repetition) as if to K, K tog the next 2 sts (= first 2 sts from next repetition) with pink/purple Delight, psso (= 2 sts dec) *, the st that remains on needle = 1st st in repetition. NOTE! For the 1st dec on round work until 1 st remains from previous round, then work from *-*. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round. Cast on 120-126 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with off white Fabel. Work rib as follows: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round until piece measures approx. 2 cm. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm, work 1st row in pattern A.1-A.2 with pink/purple - AT THE SAME TIME inc 12-12 sts evenly on round - READ INCREASE TIP = 132-138 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION AND DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THE BACK OF PIECE! Continue with pattern (there are 6-6 repetitions in total on round). When beg dec at the top of hat, there are 132 sts in both sizes - READ DECREASE TIP! Then dec 2 sts in every repetition (= 12 sts dec on round) every other round. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm when needed. When pattern has been worked, 12 sts remain in off white Fabel. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
