KNITTING TIP 1:
Fold the circular needle double (or use 2 circular needles), cast on sts over 2 needles and pull one of the needles out. This is done to make the cast on edge elastic.

DECREASE TIP (applies to dec in mid of shawl):
All dec are done from RS. Dec 2 sts in the mid of shawl every 4th row as follows: Work until 1 st remain before mid st, slip 2 sts as if to K tog, K 1, pass the slipped sts over.

KNITTING TIP 2:
On the double YOs on 2nd and 4th row, P the first YO and slip the second YO off the needle.
--------------------------------------------------------

SHAWL:
Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. Worked from the top and down to the tip. Cast on 281 sts on needle size 3 mm with Alpaca - read KNITTING TIP 1. P 1 row from WS. AT THE SAME TIME insert a marker in the middle st on needle (= 140 sts on both sides of mid st).

Then work as follows:
1st row (= RS): * K 2 tog, 2 YO *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain before mid st, K 1, dec 2 sts in the middle - read DECREASE TIP, K 1, * 2 YO, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso *, repeat from *-* the rest of row.

2nd row (= WS): P all sts - read KNITTING TIP 2.

3rd row (= RS): Cast off the first 4 sts on needle with K, * K 2 tog, 2 YO *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain before mid st, K 7 (marker is in the middle of these 7 sts), * 2 YO, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso *, repeat from *-* the rest of row.

4th row (= WS): Cast off the first 4 sts with P. P the remaining sts.

5th row (= RS): Work as row 1, but start by casting off 4 K sts in the beg of row.

6th row (WS): Cast off the first 4 sts with P. P the remaining sts.

Repeat 3rd-6th row (= 1 repetition), i.e. work lace pattern on both sides of the middle and dec 2 sts in the middle of the shawl on every 4th row.

After a total of 14 repetitions have been worked = 19 sts remain on needle.
Cast off all sts.
