Pattern: See diagram M.1 and M.2.

Heel dec:
Row 1 (= RS): Work row until 8-9-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 2 (= WS): Work row until 8-9-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 3: Work row until 7-8-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 4: Work row until 7-8-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece.
Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 14 sts on row.

Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 56-56-56 sts on needle size 3 mm [US 2or3] with 1 thread of each quality. K 1 round, P 2 rounds and K 2 rounds. Now work 3 vertical repeats of M.1. Remember the knitting gauge! Piece measures approx 12 cm [4¾”]. Now slip the first 25 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot) and keep the last 31 sts on needle for heel. Work stockinette st back and forth on heel sts, at the same time dec 3-1-1sts evenly on first row = 28-30-30 sts. When heel measures 5-5.5-6 cm [2”-2¼”-2 3/8”] insert a Marking Thread (MT) in piece – now measure piece from here. Now dec for heel - see Heel dec. After heel dec pick up 12-13-14 sts on either side of heel and slip the 25 sts back on needles = 63-65-67sts. Continue in M.2 on the 25 sts on upper foot and work remaining sts in stockinette st. At the same time dec each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the 25 sts on upper foot into back of loop and K tog the first 2 sts after the 25 sts. Dec like this on every other round a total of 9-8-7 times = 45-49-53 sts. When piece measures 18-19-21 cm [7”-7½”-8¼”] from MT on heel (= approx 4-5-6 cm [1½”-2”-2 3/8”] left) insert 1 MT each side with 23-25-27 sts on upper foot and 22-24-26 sts under foot. Continue in stockinette st on all sts, at the same time dec for toes on each side of both MT as follows:
Dec as follows before MT: K2 tog.
Dec as follows after MT: K 2 tog into back of loop.
Dec like this each side on every other round a total of 5-7-9 times and then on every round 4-3-2 times = 9 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.

K2 tog
slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso
1 YO between 2 sts
slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso.
