A nice collar and warm mittens is something you'll always find good use for!

NECK:
Size: 3/5 – 6/9 – 10/14 years.

NECK:
Gauge: 11 sts x 15 rows in stockinette sts on needles size 8 mm / US 11 = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''.

Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*.

Garter sts (back and forth): Knit on all rows.

Neck:
Work from the neck and down.
Cast on 32-36-40 sts with red and needles size 8 mm / US 11.
Work 7-8-9 cm / 2 3/4"-3"-3½" in Rib, put half of the sts on a holder and the other half on another holder.

Front piece:
Cast on 3 sts with orange and needles size 8 mm / US 11, knit in the sts from one of the holders and cast on another 3 sts for the other side = 22-24-26 sts.
Work back and forth in stockinette sts with 2 sts in garter sts each side until the piece measures 9-11-13 cm / 3½"-4 3/8"-5 1/8" from the shoulder.
K4 rows of garter sts over all sts, bind off.

Back piece:
Work as front piece.

Assembly:
Sew a couple of sts on each shoulder.

MITTENS:
Gauge: 11 sts x 15 rows on needles size 8 mm / US 11 in stockinette sts. = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''

Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*.

Decreasing tips: Dec as follows before the marker: K2 tog. Dec as follows after the marker: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso.

Mitten:
Cast on 16-18-22 sts with Eskimo on double pointed needles size 8 mm / US 11.
Work 5-6-7 cm / 2''-2 3/8''-2 3/4'' in Rib and then continue in stockinette sts.
When piece measures 7-8-10 cm / 2 3/4"-3"-4" work next round as follows:
Insert a marker (= side), K1, first knit and then put the next 2-3-3 sts on a holder for thumb, K5-5-7, insert a marker (= side), K the remaining 8-9-11 sts.
On next round cast on 2-3-3 new sts over the thumb sts.
Continue in stockinette sts.
When piece measures 5-7-8 cm / 2"-2 3/4"-3" from the thumb opening dec on each side of both markers – see Decreasing tips above – on every other row a total of 3-3-4 times = 4-6-6 sts left.
Cut the yarn and pull through remaining sts, sew tight.
The mitten measures approx 16-19-23 cm / 6 1/4"-7½"-9".

Thumb: Put the 2-3-3 sts from holder back on a needle size 8 mm / US 11, pick up 2-3-3 sts behind the opening and 1 st on each side = 6-8-8 sts.
Work stockinette in the round on needles.
When thumb measures 3.5-4.5-5.5 cm / 1 1/4"-1 3/4"-2 1/4", K2 tog around, cut the yarn and pull through remaining sts, sew tight.

Work another mitten but with the thumb the opposite side.
