Cast on 119-129 (125-135-145-151) sts (including 1 edge st at each side for seam knit in garter st throughout) on smaller needles and knit rib for 5-5 (6-6-6-6) cm , decreasing 18-22 (22-26-30-32) sts evenly distributed on the last row = 101-107 (103-109-115-119) sts. Change to larger and knit English rib. When the work measures 32-35 (38-40-41-43) cm bind off 4 sts at each side for armholes. Continue to knit the outermost st in garter st along the raglan shaping (for seam). Raglan shaping: Read the next section in its entirety before knitting. Dec 2 sts at each side for raglan every 8th row 12-11 (13-12-11-10) times, then every 6th row 4-6 (4-6-8-10) times. Make decreases as follows: Knit 1 (edge st), 3 sts in English rib, slip 1 (the yo from the previous row), K 2 tog, pass the slipped st over (psso), knit until 7 sts remain, K 3 tog, 3 sts English rib, K 1 (edge st) (2 sts decreased at each side). At the same time, when 8 decreases of the raglan shaping remain put the center 7-9 (5-7-9-9) sts on a stitch holder for the neck. Then put sts on a stitch holder for the neck every other row: 2 sts 3 times. After the last binding off put the remaining sts on the front on the stitch holder = 29-31 (27-29-31-31) sts. The work measures approx. 57-61 (64-67-69-72) cm . Back: Cast on and knit like the front, but do not bind off for the neck. After the last decrease put the remaining 29-31 (27-29-31-31) sts on a stitch holder. The work measures approx. 57-61 (64-67-69-72) cm . Sleeves: Cast on 55-55 (59-61-61-63) sts (including 1 st on each side for seam knit in garter st throughout) on smaller needles and knit rib for 5-5 (6-6-6-6) cm , decreasing 8-8 (14-14-14-12) sts evenly distributed on the last row = 47-47 (45-47-47-51) sts. Change to larger needles and knit English rib, inc 1 st in each side 18-20 (22-22-24-24) times every 10th-9th (9th-9th-8th-8th) row = 83-87 (89-91-95-99) sts. Knit the increased sts into the English rib as you go along. When the work measures 45-45 (49-50-50-51) cm , bind off 4 sts on each side. Continue to knit the edge sts on each side in garter st along the raglan shaping (for seam). Then decrease for raglan as on the front = 11-11 (13-11-11-11) sts remain. After the last decrease put the remaining sts on a stitch holder. The work measures approx. 70-71 (75-77-78-80) cm . Assembly: Sew the sleeve seam and side seam. Sew the raglan seam. Pick up sts from the stitch holder on smaller double pointed needles; join and knit rib for 16-18 (18-18-20-20) cm increasing evenly distributed across the first row to approx. 120-130 sts (divisible by 2 sts). It is important that the neck does not become too wide, but it should not pull in the English rib knitting. Bind off loosely in rib. The sweater’s measurement up to the shoulder = approx. 60-64 (68-70-72-75) cm . ________________________________________ CHILD'S SWEATER: Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. “At the same time, when 8 decreases of the raglan shaping remain put the center 7-9 (5-7-9-9) sts on a stitch holder for the neck. “ needs to say “… when 8 ROWS OF decreases of the raglan shaping remain...” I ended up with a weird neckline, and decided to check Finnish and Swedish translations, both instructing to put stitches on hold when almost all raglan decreases are done, with only 8 rows remaining, not 8 decreases

Im knitting 59-22 mens jumper in size xl , im looking to make a 52 inch chest jumper,is this the correct size ?

Dear Mrs Steventon, measure a similar garment the man has and likes the shape and compare these measurements to the one in the chart (convert into cm here as all measurements are given in cm in the chart), that's the best way to find out the best matching size. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!
