CARDIGAN

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Pattern: See chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side. The charts are placed vertically on the page. NOTE: for the ruffle, Pattern 1 is read from the bottom up and for the collar, it is read from the top down.

bind off from the right-side of the work for buttonholes on right front as follows: bind off the 3rd and 4th sts from the edge and cast on 2 new sts over the bound off sts on the next row.

Body: Cast on 242-274-298 (330-362-386) sts (including 5 sts on each side for the buttonband) with Muskat and knit Pattern 1 (the ruffle). The 5 sts at each side (buttonband) are knit in garter st throughout. After this, knit Pattern 2 to finished measurements (continue to knit the buttonband in garter st). Make buttonholes on the right front (see instructions above). When the work measures 25-26-29 (31-34-37) cm [9-7/8" - 10.25" - 11-3/8" (12.25" - 13-3/8" - 14.5")], knit the next row as follows: 32-36-39 (43-47-50) sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 54-62-68 (76-84-90) sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 32-36-39 (43-47-50) sts for the front. Knit each part separately.

Front: = 32-36-39 (43-47-50) sts. Bind off for armholes every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-2-2 (2-2-2) times, 1 st 2 times = 25-27-30 (34-38-41) sts. When the work measures 30-31-35 (37-43-47) cm [11.75" - 12.25" - 13.75" (14.5" - 16-7/8" - 18.5")], bind off for the neck every other row: 7-9-10 (11-13-14) sts 1 time 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, dec 1 st 2 times. Bind off when the work measures 35-37-41 (44-50-54) cm [13.75" - 14.5" - 16-1/8" (17.25" - 19.75" - 21.25")].

Back: = 54-62-68 (76-84-90) sts. Bind off for armholes as on the front = 40-44-50 (58-66-72) sts. When the work measures 33-35-39 (42-48-52) cm [13" - 13.75" - 15.25" (16.5" - 18-7/8" - 20.5")], bind off the center 12-16-18 (20-24-26) sts for the neck. After this, bind off at the neck edges every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time. Bind off when the work measures 35-37-41 (44-50-54) cm [13.75" - 14.5" - 16-1/8" (17.25" - 19.75" - 21.25")].

Sleeves: Cast on 34-34-36 (38-38-42) sts on double pointed needles with Muskat; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 rows garter st, then knit Pattern 2. At the same time, after the garter st edge, inc 1 st each side of marker 5-7-8 (10-16-16) times:
Sizes 0/3 + 6/9 + 12/18 mos.: every 5th row
Size 2 years: alternately every 4th and 5th row
Size 3/4 years: alternately every 3rd and 4th row
Size 5/6 years: every 4th row
= 44-48-52 (58-70-74) sts. When the work measures 11-14-16 (18-21-25) cm [4.25" -5.5" -6.25" (7" -8.25" - 9-7/8")], bind off 2 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off for sleeve caps on each side every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-2-2) times, 2 sts 0-0-1 (2-2-2) times, 1 st 6-7-5 (3-1-1) times, 2 sts 0-0-1 (2-2-2) times, 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-2-2) times, bind off all sts. The work measures approx. 17-21-23 (25-28-32) cm [6.75" - 8.25" - 9" (9-7/8" - 11" - 12-5/8")].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 60-86 sts around the neck (not over the buttonband) from the wrong side on circular needles and knit Pattern 1 (ruffle) working from the top of the chart down for 5-6-6 (7-7-8) cm [2" - 2-3/8" - 2-3/8" (2.75" - 2.75" - 3-1/8")] back and forth on the needles from the center front, keeping the 2 edge sts on each side in garter st. When the collar measures 4-5-5 (6-6-7) cm [1.5" - 2" - 2" (2-3/8" - 2-3/8" - 2.75")], dec 1 st on each side every row 3 times, then bind off all sts. The right side should be turned out when the collar is folded down.

Crocheted edge: Crochet an edge in Tynn Chenille around the entire collar, around the sleeves and around the bottom of the body as follows:
Row 1: work one row of single crochet from the right-side, inserting the crochet hook between the 2 "ridges" of the garter st edge.
Row 2: * Chain 3, 1 dc in the first of these 3 ch sts, 3 dc*, repeat from * - *. Sew on sleeves and buttons.





SOCKS:

Size: foot length of sock: 10-11-12 (14-15) cm
[4" - 4.25" - 4.75" (5.5" - 5-7/8")]

DROPS 3 mm [US 2] and 3.5 mm [US 4] double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows on larger needle in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Rib: *knit 1, purl 1*, repeat from * - *.

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.

Sock: Cast on 48-50-52 (54-56) sts on smaller double-pointed needles with Muskat; join and place a marker at the join (this is the center back). Knit rib for 10-12-12 (13-14) cm [4" - 4.75" - 4.75" (5-1/8" - 5.5")]. When the work measures 4-5-5 (5-6) cm [1.5" - 2" - 2" (2" - 2-3/8")], knit 3 sts together at the center back, knit 4 rows and then knit 3 sts together at the center back = 44-46-48 (50-52) sts.
When the work measures 10-11-12 (13-14) cm [4" - 4.75" - 4.75" (5-1/8" - 5.5")], change to larger needles and stockinette st and at the same time decrease 8-6-8 (6-8) sts evenly across row = 36-40-40 (44-44) sts.
After 2 rows knit the next row as follows: *K 2 tog, yarn over*, repeat * - * across row.
K 1 row stockinette st, then 4-5-5.5 (7-7.5) cm [1.5" - 2" - 2-1/8" (2.75" - 3")] stockinette st for the upper piece over the uppermost 8-10-10 (12-12) sts and put the remaining 28-30-30 (32-32) sts on a stitch holder.
Then pick up 8-10-12 (14-16) sts on each side of the upper piece plus the sts from the stitch holder = 52-60-64 (72-76) sts. P 1 row then knit garter st for 2-3-3 (4-4.5) cm [0.75" - 1.25" - 1.25" (1.5" - 1.75")].
Now bind off all sts except the center 8-10-10 (12-12) sts. Knit garter st for 9-10-11 (13-14) cm [3.5" - 4" - 4" (4.75" - 4.75")] for the sole over these sts. Bind off and sew the sole to the sock. Crochet a chain approx. 30-40 cm [11.75" to 15.75"] long if desired in Tynn Chenille -- and pull the cord through the border of holes.
