Knitting Tension: 20 sts x 26 rows on needles size 4.5/5 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm.
Pattern: see diagrams M.1, M.2 and M.3. The diagrams are seen from the right side. 1 repeat of M.2 (= 1 leaf) = approx 12 cm. NB! Skip any section in the pattern with no squares and continue towards the left to the next square.
Knitted back and forth on circular needle due to number of sts. Beg at the top and knit towards lower edge. Cast on 7 sts on needle size 4.5/5 mm with Alpaca (leave approx 100 cm yarn end to be used for assembly). Knit M.1 with 2 edge sts each side in garter sts and 1 st in the middle in stocking sts. After 1 repeat of M.1 = 71 sts. Continue in M.2 until piece measures approx 50 cm mid back– adjust after a whole repeat of M.2 = 1 whole leaf. Now knit M.3 (= the last 2 rows of M.2 to create rows of holes) – make a yo each side and on both sides of the middle st on every other row. Knit 12 cm of M.3 and then 1 repeat of M.2. Now knit 4 rows in garter sts over all sts, 3 rows in stocking sts and K 1 row from the WS – continue the inc as before each side and on both sides of middle st. Cast off loosely.
Assembly: Use the yarn end left when casting on. Crochet 3 ch with crochet hook size 3 mm, 1 dc in middle st on shawl, 3-4 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 sl st in next st. Repeat both sides of middle st. Crochet along both long sides as follows: 1 dc, *3 ch, skip approx 1 cm, 1 dc*, repeat from *-*.
