Note: This pattern is written in American English.
All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inch - click here.

Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10x10 cm.

Back: Cast on 118-128-138-148-158 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 10 cm dec 1 st at each side every 3-3.5-4-5-6 cm a total of 10-9-8-7-6 times = 98-110-122-134-146 sts. When the piece measures 40-41-42-43-44 cm P 2 rows (first row = right side row).
Knit the next row as follows:
Sizes S and XL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), P 1, * K 4, P 2 *, repeat * - * and finish with K 4, P 1 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Sizes M, L and XXL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), K 2, * P 2, K 4 *, repeat * - * and finish with P 2, K 2 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Continue with the rib to finished measurements. When the piece measures 56-57-58-59-60 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 0-0-1-1-2 times, 2 sts 0-1-3-4-4 times and 1 st 3-4-3-4-4 times = 84-90-90-96-102 sts.
When the piece measures 74-76-78-80-82 cm bind off the center 20-22-22-22-24 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times = 30-32-32-35-37 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 76-78-80-82-84 cm.

Left front: Cast on 59-65-70-74-80 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st.
When the piece measures 10 cm bind off at the side for armhole as on back = 49-56-62-67-74 sts.
When the piece measures 40-41-42-43-44 cm P 2 rows (first row = right side). Knit the next row as follows beginning at side edge:
Sizes S and XL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), P 1, * K 4, P 2 *, repeat * - * and finish with K 4, K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Sizes M, L and XXL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), K 2, * P 2, K 4 *, repeat * - * and finish with P 2, K 2 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Read the entire next section before knitting:
When the piece measures 56-57-58-59-60 cm bind off for armhole at the side as on back.
At the same time when the piece measures 60-61-62-63-64 cm dec 1 st at the center front every 3 rows: 12-14-14-13-15 times.
After all shaping for armhole and neck 30-32-32-35-37 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 76-78-80-82-84 cm.

Right front: Cast on and knit the same as the left, reversing shaping.

Sleeve: Cast on 54-56-58-60-62 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st.
When the piece measures 12 cm inc 1 st at each side as follows:
Size S: every 7 rows a total of 15 times.
Size M: every 6 rows a total of 17 times.
Size L: alternately every 5th and 6th rows a total of 18 times.
Size XL: alternately every 4th and 5th rows a total of 20 times.
Size XXL: every 4 rows a total of 22 times.
After all incs there are 84-90-94-100-106 sts.
When sleeve measures 47-46-45-44-43 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3-3-4-4-4 times and 1 st 1-3-2-4-9 times, continue to bind off 2 sts at each side until piece measures 54 cm, and then bind off 3 sts at each side 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 55 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Buttonband + neckband: Pick up approx. 380 - 430 sts up along right front, back neck and down along left front on smaller circular needles.
Knit 4 rows garter st, bind off.
Crochet 4 buttonhole loops along right front. Start where the rib on front starts and space the buttonholes so that the last one is where the neckband starts. Each loop = ch 5, join to buttonband with 1 sl st between loops.
Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. sew on buttons.
