Gauge: 22 sts x 30 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Arrows indicate the center front, center back and sides on the chart.

Midt bak = center back
Siden = sides

Shoulder warmer: Cast on 352 sts on smaller circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Rib for 3 cm [1.25"]. Change to larger circular needles and knit Pattern 1 over all sts (see chart). Put markers at center front, center back and at each side (see arrow in chart for positioning) - 4 markers total. When the piece measures 29 cm [11-3/8"] put the 19 sts at each side of each side marker (38 sts per side) on st holders. Knit each piece separately.

Front: = 138 sts. Continue with pattern and at the same time dec sts at each side for shoulder shaping and the neck.
Shoulder and neck shaping is done over the next 20 rows, beginning with a right side row:
Row 1: dec 3 sts at each side over the outer cables (dec by K 2 tog across the 6 sts of the cable).
Rows 2 & 3: bind off 5 sts at beginning of row.
Row 4: dec 2 sts over the small cables by K 2 tog across the 4 sts of the cable.
Rows 6 & 7: bind off 6 sts at each side.
Row 8: dec 3 sts across next large cable by K 2 tog across the 6 sts of cable. Also, dec 12 sts evenly distributed over the center 36 sts.
Row 9: bind off the center 24 sts for neck.
Row 10: dec 3 sts across next large cable by K 2 tog across the 6 sts of cable. Also, bind off 3 sts at neck edge.
Row 11: bind off 3 sts at neck edge.
Rows 12 & 13: bind off 5 sts at beginning of row and bind off 3 sts at neck edge.
Row 14: dec 3 sts at each side over the cables by K 2 tog and bind off 2 sts at neck edge.
Row 15: bind off 2 sts at neck edge.
Rows 16 & 17: bind off 5 sts at beginning of row and 2 sts at neck edge.
Row 18: dec 2 sts across small cables by K 2 tog and bind off 2 sts at neck edge.
Row 19: bind off 2 sts at neck edge.
Row 20: bind off all sts.
When all sts are bound off the piece measures approx. 34 cm [13-3/8"] at the highest point.

Back: = 138 sts. Shape shoulders as for front (rows 1-7) then for rows 8-20:
Row 8: dec 3 sts across next large cable by K 2 tog across the 6 sts of cable.
Row 10: dec 3 sts across next large cable by K 2 tog across the 6 sts of cable.
Rows 12 & 13: bind off 5 sts at beginning of row
Row 14: dec 3 sts at each side over the cables by K 2 tog
Rows 16 & 17: bind off 5 sts at beginning of row
Row 18: dec 2 sts across small cables by K 2 tog
and dec 20 sts evenly distributed over the center 60 sts.
Row 19: bind off the center 40 sts.
Row 20: bind off all sts.

Sides: Put the 38 sts from the st holder on needles. Cast on 1 new st at each side for seam allowance (do not knit these sts in pattern) = 40 sts. Continue with pattern over 38 sts, with 1 garter st (edge st) at each side for approx. 16 cm [6.25"] - measure to match front up to the neck. When the side is 2 rows less than long enough, dec 12 sts evenly distributed across the row = 28 sts. On the next row bind off all sts.

Assembly: Sew sides to body.

Neck: Pick up 108 - 112 sts (divisible by 4) on smaller double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 1 row, then rib for 10 cm [4"]. Bind off loosely in rib.
