Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Rib: * K 2, P 2 *. Repeat from * - *.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Tip for shaping the V-neck:
Left Front: Knit 6 sts in pattern, slip the 7th st, knit the 8th st, pass the slipped st over.
Right Front: Knit in pattern until 8 sts remain, knit the next st, put this st back on the left needle, pass the 7th st from the edge over this 8th st and put onto the right needle, knit the last 6 sts in pattern.

Body: Cast on 276-288-300 sts on circular needles with natural. Knit rib - see instructions above - but keep the edge st at each side (center front) in garter st throughout. When the work measures 35-36-38 cm [13.75" - 14-1/8" - 14-7/8"], knit the next row as follows: 70-73-76 sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 128-134-140 sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 70-73-76 sts for the front. Knit the rest of each part separately.

Left Front: = 70-73-76 sts. Bind off for armhole and decrease for the neck at the same time.
Armhole: bind off every other row: 3 sts 2-2-3 times, 2 sts 4-5-5 times, 1 st 4-3-3 times = 52-54-54 sts. Neck (see tip for shaping above): dec 1 st for the neck inside 7 sts (1 edge st + 6 sts for the front edge) every other row 14-14-14 times, then every 4th row 2-3-3 times = 36-37-37 sts remain on the shoulder.
When the work measures 56-58-60 cm [22" - 22-7/8" - 23-5/8"], bind off 28-29-29 sts for the shoulder, leaving 8 sts at the center front (= sts for the neck edge at the back). Knit the next row as follows: 1 st of garter st, 6 sts rib, 1 st of garter st, continue until the neck edge measures 7.5-8-8 cm [3" - 3-1/8" - 3-1/8"]. Put sts on a st holder.

Right Front: Knit like the left - but reverse all shaping.

Back: = 128-134-140 sts. Bind off for armholes as on the front = 92-96-96 sts. When the work measures 54-56-58 cm [21.25" - 22" - 22-7/8"], bind off the center 32-34-34 sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row = 28-29-29 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the work measures 56-58-60 cm [22" - 22-7/8" - 23-5/8"].

Sleeve: Cast on 64-64-68 sts on double pointed needles with natural; join and knit 4 rows of garter st, then knit stockinette st until the work measures 16-16-16 cm [6.25"]. Change to rib and inc 1 st each side of marker 11-13-11 times every 3-2.5-3 cm [1.25 - 1" - 1.25"] = 86-90-90 sts. Knit the increased sts into the rib as you go along.
When the work measures 48-50-49 cm [18-7/8" - 19.75" - 19.25"], bind off 2 sts each side of marker and knit the rest of the work back and forth on the needles. Bind off at each side for sleeve cap every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, then dec 1 st at each side every other row until the work measures 60-62-63 cm [23-5/8" - 24-3/8" - 24.75"]. Then bind off at each side every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 3 sts 1 time, bind off. The work measures approx. 62-64-65 cm [24-3/8" - 25.25" - 25-5/8"].

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Weave neck sts from the st holder at the center back and sew the collar onto the neck opening at the back with the seam against the wrong side.

Crochet borders: Crochet with natural: 1 row of single crochet (sc) around the front edges and neck in the edge sts. On the left front edge, work 1 more row of sc along the edge up to the V-neck. On the right front edge make 8 buttonholes evenly distributed - the first buttonhole starts 3 cm [1.25"] from the bottom edge. 1 buttonhole = chain 2, skip over 2 sc from the previous row and fasten with 1 sc in the next sc from the previous row, sc in each sc from the previous row between the buttonholes.

Embroidery: On the stockinette st part of each sleeve, embroider as shown in Fig. 1. Begin by making a crochet chain approx. 22 cm [8-5/8"] long for a «stalk», with color alternative 1. Cut the strand, start 5 cm [2"] in from the end of the chain and make a new chain st band 5 cm [2"] long. Fasten the «stalk» with pins on one side of the sleeve - as shown in the chart - sew on the «stalk» with color alternative 1. Sew on flowers and leaves according to color alternative 1. Make one like Fig. 1 but in color alternative 2 and sew this one in the opposite direction on the other side of the cuff. Repeat on the other sleeve.
Sew in the sleeves and sew on buttons.

Color alternative 1:
Chain st band (the «stalk») = ivy, no. 39.
Sewing on the stalk + leaves = light plum, no. 33.
Petals of the flower = dark plum, no. 38.

Color alternative 2:
Chain st band (the «stalk») = light plum, no. 33.
Sewing on stalk + leaves = dark plum, no. 38.
Petals on the flower = ivy, no. 39.
