We are now sending the new fall/winter catalogs to our DROPS dealers. They are printed in a limited edition and and each catalog costs only 1£/$2 over the counter and 2£/$4 by mail order. DROPS fall/winter 09/10 collection is very varied. From fine to heavy, garments with texture and patterned. Jackets, sweaters, ponchos, shawls and lots of accessories. The designs are chosen on the basis of an overall assessment, where voting results and accompanying comments have been important.

Note: This pattern is written in American English.

There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English.

Gauge: 18 half double crochet (hdc) and 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Decreasing: Decrease by working over 1 less st.
Increasing: Increase 1 st by working 1 new ch and on the next row work 1 new hdc in the ch.
Turning the work: Before the end of every row ch 1 to turn the work with. Replace the first hdc on the next row with ch 2.

Bottom: The front and back are worked in one piece, beginning at the front. Ch 48 (56). Work half doubles (hdc) across row, beginning in the 3rd st = 46 (54) sts. Dec 1 st at each side 2 (2) times every row, then 13 (16) times every other row = 16 (18) sts, the work measures approx. 20 (24) cm [7-7/8" (9.5")]. Work 6 (7) cm [2-3/8" (2.75")] even, the work measures 26 (31) cm [10.25" (12.25")]. Measure the work from here. Inc 1 st at each side 4 (4) times every row, then 14 (17) times every other row, then 2 (2) times every row = 56 (64) sts, height of the back = 24 (28) cm [9.5" (11")]. Tie off the strand. Make a chain st cord about 130 cm [51-1/8"] long, thread it through the first row of sts on the front and last row of sts on the back and tie at one side.

Bra: Ch 43 (47). Turn, work 1 row of hdc beginning in the 3rd st = 41 (45) sts. On the 2nd row work 3 hdc in the center st = 43 (47) sts. Dec 1 st at each side:
Size S/M: 2 times every other row, then 18 times every row
Size M/L: 2 times every other row, 15 times every row, then 5 times alternately every and every other row
= 3 sts. The bra piece is approx. 17 (21) cm [6.75" (8.25")]. Tie off the strand.
Crochet a second one.

Make a chain st cord about 120 cm [47.25"] long, thread it through the first row of sts of both top sections, so that it can be tied at the center back. Make a chain st cord from the top of each bra section approx. 70 cm [27-5/8"] long. Tie off the strand. The top sections are tied behind the neck at the center back.





CROCHETED HAT:

Garnstudio SAFRAN,
100% Egyptian cotton, 50 g/160 m./174 yards
100 (100) g color no. 18, natural

DROPS 2.5 mm [US B] crochet hook, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 20 half double crochet (hdc) and 15 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]

Hat: Ch 4 and join into a ring. Begin all rows with ch 2 which replaces the first hdc and end all rows with 1 slip st.
1st row: Crochet 6 hdc into the ring.
2nd row: Crochet 2 hdc into each hdc in the previous row = 12 hdc.
3rd row: * 2 hdc in 1st hdc, 1 hdc in next hdc *, repeat from * - * throughout the row = 6 increases = 18 hdc.
4th row: * 2 hdc in 1st hdc, 2 hdc *, repeat from * - * throughout the row.
5th row: * 2 hdc in 1st hdc, 3 hdc *, repeat from * - * throughout the row.
Continue to increase 6 hdc every row in this manner, with 1 more hdc between the increases every row.

When the hat measures 9 (11) cm [3.5" (4.25")] from the center and the number of sts is divisible by 6, work the next row as follows: ch 5, * skip over 5 sts, in the 6th st work 5 trebles, ch 1 *, repeat * - *, finish with 4 trebles in the first st and 1 slip st in the 4th of the first ch 5.
Now work 2 rows of hdc, one st in each st.
Repeat these 3 rows 3 times, but on the last row of hdc decrease 12 hdc evenly distributed on the row by skipping over 1 hdc per decreased st. The work measures approx. 17 (19) cm [6.75" (7.5")] from the center.
Now work the Hat Border as follows:
1st row: * 2 hdc, 2 hdc into next st * - repeat * - * throughout the row.
2nd-10th row: 1 hdc in each st.
Cut off and tie off the strand.
