M.1A = Slipper 1.
M.1B = Slipper 2.
Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
Squares: See M.2 for square numbers.
Assembly: See M.2 for assembly instructions. M.3 shows the squares’ positioning after assembly.
SLIPPER
Worked back and forth on needle in squares, sewn tog afterwards. See Changing colors tip! Cast on 10-11-12 sts on needle size 7 mm [US 10½] with purple (for slipper in 8 colors, see explanation above). See Measuring tip! Work garter st – see above – for 8.5-9-10 cm [3¼”-3½”-4”] (= square 1), change to plum and work garter st for 8.5-9-10 cm [3¼”-3½”-4”] (= square 2). Continue like this working purple and plum squares alternately until you have 3 purple and 3 plum squares (= 6 squares in total). Piece now measures 51-54-60 cm [20”-21¼”-23 5/8”], bind off. Now pick up 10-11-12 sts on right side of square 2 with purple (= square 7), work 8.5 -9-10 cm [3¼”-3½”-4”] garter st, bind off. Pick up 10-11-12 sts on left side of square 6 with plum (= square 8) and work like square 7.
Assembly: Fold slipper and sew tog, edge to edge, as described in M.2. The sole of the slipper = 24-26-28 cm [9½”-10 ¼”-11”]. Knit another slipper in the same way.
Crochet border: Crochet round the opening of slipper with crochet hook size 8 mm [L/11] and color of your choice as follows (beg mid back): * 1 sc, 2 ch *, repeat from *-*, and finish with 1 sl st in first sc from beg of round.
