We are now sending the new fall/winter catalogs to our DROPS dealers. They are printed in a limited edition and and each catalog costs only 1£/$2 over the counter and 2£/$4 by mail order. DROPS fall/winter 09/10 collection is very varied. From fine to heavy, garments with texture and patterned. Jackets, sweaters, ponchos, shawls and lots of accessories. The designs are chosen on the basis of an overall assessment, where voting results and accompanying comments have been important.

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows

Measuring tip: Because of the weight of the yarn, all measurements should be done whilst the garment is hanging, otherwise it will be too long when worn.

Decreasing tip: All dec done from RS. Dec inside 3 garter sts.
Dec as follows before and after 3 sts: P2 tog
P sts not fitting into pattern from the RS.

Back piece: Cast on 110-118-124-134-144-152 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4 mm [US 6]. Work 6 rows garter st and continue in stockinette st. Remember the knitting gauge. When piece measures 5 cm [2’’] dec 1 st each side on every 3 cm [1 1/8’’] a total of 10 times = 90-98-104-114-124-132 sts. When piece measures 36 cm [14 1/4’’] work next row as follows from RS: 28-32-35-40-45-49 stockinette sts, M.1 (= 16 sts), 2 stockinette sts, M.2 (= 16 sts), 28-32-35-40-45-49 stockinette sts = 74-82-88-98-108-116 sts. P 1 row from WS. Insert a Marking Thread (MT) and now measure piece from here. Work 4 rows garter st and then K 1 row from RS, at the same time dec 4-4-2-4-2-2 sts evenly = 70-78-86-94-106-114 sts. On next row (= WS) work M.3 with 1 edge st each side. When piece measures 11-12-13-14-15-16 cm [4 3/8’’-4 3/4’’-5 1/8’’-5½’’-6’’-6 1/4’’] from MT work 2 rows garter st on 7-7-7-9-9-11 sts each side – work remaining sts as before. On next row bind off 4-4-4-6-6-8 sts each side for armhole = 62-70-78-82-94-98 sts. Continue in pattern with 3 garter sts each side – P sts not fitting into pattern (as seen from RS) – at the same time dec – see Decreasing tip: 1 st on every other row a total of 2-4-8-8-14-14 times = 58-62-62-66-66-70 sts.
When piece measures 27-29-31-33-35-37 cm [10 5/8’’-11 3/8’’-12 1/8’’-13’’-13 3/4’’-14½’’] work 2 rows garter st on the middle 28-32-32-28-28-32 sts (work remaining sts as before). On next row bind off the middle 22-26-26-22-22-26 sts for neck = 18-18-18-22-22-22 sts left on each shoulder. Continue in pattern with 3 garter sts each side until piece measures 30-32-34-36-38-40 cm [11 3/4’’- 12½’’-13 3/8’’-14 1/4’’-15’’-15 3/4’’] from MT (piece measures approx 67-69-71-73-75-77 cm [26 3/8’-27 1/8’’-28’’-28 3/4’’-29½’’-30 3/8’’’]). Bind off loosely.

Front piece: Cast on and work like back piece. When piece measures 36 cm [14 1/4’’] work next row as follows from RS: 28-32-35-40-45-49 stockinette sts, M.1 (=16 sts), 2 stockinette sts, M.2 (=16 sts), 28-32-35-40-45-49 stockinette sts = 74-82-88-98-108-116 sts. P 1 row from WS. Insert a MT and measure piece from here. Work 4 rows garter st and K 1 row from RS, at the same time dec 4-4-2-4-2-2 sts evenly = 70-78-86-94-106-114 sts. On next row (= WS) work M.3 with 1 garter st each side. When piece measures 9-10-11-12-13-14 cm [3½’’-4’’-4 3/8’’-4 3/4’’-5 1/8’’--5½’’] from MT work 2 rows garter st on the middle 10 sts (work remaining sts as before). On next row bind off the middle 4 sts for neck and complete each side separately.

Left side: = 33-37-41-45-51-55 sts. Continue in pattern with 3 garter sts towards neckline, at the same time dec to shape the neckline – see Decreasing tip: 1 st on every other row a total of 9-11-11-9-9-11 times. At the same time, when piece measures 11-12-13-14-15-16 cm [4 3/8’’-4 3/4’’-5 1/8’’-5½’’-6’’-6 1/4’’] work 2 rows garter st on 7-7-7-9-9-11 sts at side. On next row bind off for armhole as described for back piece. After all dec for neckline and armhole are complete = 18-18-18-22-22-22 sts left on shoulder. Continue in pattern with 3 garter sts each side until piece measures 30-32-34-36-38-40 cm [11 3/4’’- 12½’’-13 3/8’’-14 1/4’’-15’’-15 3/4’’] from MT (piece measures approx 67-69-71-73-75-77 cm [26 3/8’-27 1/8’’-28’’-28 3/4’’-29½’’-30 3/8’’’]). Bind off.

Right side: = 33-37-41-45-51-55 sts. Work like left side, but mirrored.

Assembly: Sew side seams inside 1 edge st. Sew shoulder seams.

=P3 tog, tighten thread
=Put 8 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K tog first st on cable needle with first st on needle, a total of 8 times
