Knitting tension: 11 sts x 15 rows stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm

Knitting tip: Each time piece is turned in middle of work slip first sts as if to knit, tighten thread and knit back, this is done to avoid holes in transitions.

Garter st: Knit all rows back and forth on needle

Buttonhole: Cast off for 4 buttonholes on right front edge from WS as follows: 1 buttonhole = P2 sts tog and yo. On next row knit into back of yo sts (i.e. do not knit into front of sts) to avoid large hole. Knit 3 sts, cast off to 1st buttonhole, knit 5 sts, cast off for 2nd buttonhole, knit 5 sts, cast off for 3rd buttonhole, knit 5 sts and cast off for last (4th) buttonhole.

NECK
Cast on 28 sts on needle size 8 mm with Eskimo. Knit the first 2 sts (top of neck) on needle with 2 threads Eskimo. Knit 6 rows garter sts – see explanation above. Now K1 row from RS and then P1 row at the same time as casting off for buttonhole - see explanation above. Knit 1 row garter sts.
Continue in garter sts at the same time as knitting shortened rows as follows: * Knit 9 sts, turn – read knitting tips – and knit 9 sts back, knit 15 sts, turn and knit 15 sts back, knit 2 rows garter sts over all sts * repeat from *-* - adjust after 1 repeat - until piece measures approx 36 cm at top.
Continue with 3 rows stocking sts and 6 rows garter sts like beginning of neck. Cast off. Sew in buttons on left front edge and over 3 rows stocking sts.
