Pattern: See diagrams M.1-M.3. The pattern diagram is seen from the RS.

Decreasing tip (apply to calf):
Dec as follows 3 sts before MT: slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso, K1.
Dec as follows after MT: K1, K2 tog.

Decreasing for heel:
1st row (= RS): K until there are 8-10-11 sts left on row, slip next st, K1, psso, turn piece
2nd row (= WS): P until there are 8-10-11 sts left on row, slip next st, P1, psso, turn piece
3rd row (= RS): K until there are 7-9-10 sts left on row, slip next st, K1, psso, turn piece
4th row (= WS): P until there are 7-9-10 sts left on row, slip next st, P1, psso, turn piece
Continue like this with 1 less st left before each dec until there are 14-16-16 sts left on row.

SOCK
Knitted round on double pointed needles from mid back. Cast on 190-200-220 sts on double pointed needle size 2 mm and knit picot edge as follows: *10 stocking sts, lift st 9, then st 8, then st 7, then st 6, then st 5 and then st 4 over st 10 (= last st knitted) = 4 sts left*, repeat from *-* all the way round = 76-80-88 sts left. Knit 1 round, adjusting no. of sts by 1-2-1 sts evenly distributed on round to 75-78-87. Continue in M.1 for 2 cm. After M.1 knit 1 round, at the same time adjusting no of sts to 72-72-81. Continue in M.2. After M.2 dec 6-0-3 sts evenly = 66-72-78 sts. Now insert a MT at beg of round and continue in M.3 (knit sts not fitting into M.3 in stocking st). When piece measures 10 cm dec 1 st each side of the MT – see Decreasing tip – on every other cm a total of 2-2-3 times = 62-68-72 sts. Continue in M.3 until piece measures 21-23-25 cm. Now keep the first 13-16-18 sts on needle, put the next 36 sts on a thread or a stitch holder (= mid upper foot) and keep the last 13-16-18 sts on needle = 26-32-36 sts for heel. Knit 5-5.5-6 cm stocking sts on heel sts and then dec for heel – see above. After the heel dec pick up 15-16-18 sts on each side of the heel and put the 36 sts from the thread or a stitch holder back on the double pointed needles = 78-82-88 sts. Continue in stocking sts on the first 21-23-26 sts, M.3 on the middle 36 sts and stocking st on the remaining 21-23-26 sts. At the same time dec as follows: Knit the 2 sts before the 36 sts at the mid top of the foot, twisted tog (i.e. knit into the back part of sts instead of the front), then knit the 2 first sts after the 36 sts at the mid top foot, tog. Dec on every other row a total of 11-10-10 times = 56-62-68 sts. Continue in pattern until piece measures 18-19-21 cm from the edge of the heel. Now insert a marking thread each side (28-31-34 sts between each MT). Continue in stocking sts on all sts and dec for toe on both sides of each marking thread as follows: K2 tog, MT, K2 twisted tog. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 4-8-10 times and on every round a total of 7-4-2 times = 12-14-20 sts left. On next round knit all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts. Sew tight.
