About GARNSTUDIO DROPS Design ®

Our company was launched back in 1982 as GARNSTUDIO A/S and today, we are most widely referred to as GARNSTUDIO or DROPS. Our web pages may be accessed via www.garnstudio.com as well as www.dropsdesign.com, but we have chosen to profile ourselves as GARNSTUDIO as this results in an almost 100% direct hit rate with search engines whereas DROPS may also lead to other sites.

Right from day one, we have enjoyed great success with our DROPS collections and our innovative designs have been the deciding factor in establishing ourselves as a major player in the field of yarn and knitting designs. To enhance this position and our association with creativity and design, the name was changed to DROPS DESIGN A/S in 2002. In 2006 we took this a step further and included DROPS as a common denomination for all our products.

Our company philosophy.
We launched GARNSTUDIO back in the 80’s during the great knitting boom. This was a time of innovation and change, between old and new products and old and new companies. GARNSTUDIO was a breath of fresh air in an industry that had almost grinded to a halt, and we were warmly welcomed in the press for introducing new designs and new yarn products. Our appearance met with a rather cooler reception in the established industry, on the wholesale as well as the retail front. But our innovative business approach, which was initially opposed by the established industry, has formed the basis for our success and has become our unique trademark. Today as then, we stand on our own two legs!

In 1997 we took the initial steps towards www.garnstudio.com, in order to create an online communication tool directed at our customers. Since 2002 our web pages have seen much improvement and today we boast a site with more than 20,000 patterns, spread over 8 different languages. With our web pages we have the potential to reach more than 600 million users, and our pages are visited regularly by knitting enthusiasts the world over. A major contribution factor to the success of our web pages is the fact that the usage is free, the pages are user friendly with no login and passwords, and they are continuously updated to represent the most current trends.

Our web pages also offer our customers and users the chance to influence the contents of the DROPS collections by giving them the opportunity to vote for their favourite designs before they are published, leave comments and requests updates/improvements.

Our dedicated team of accomplished pattern designers, web designers, translators, buyers and corporate staff creates a diversified pool of competence. Our focus is on trends and current fashions, mixing new with old to give our users inspiration and new ideas.
