Hi I am doing the spiral knit pattern ne 156. I am struggling to understand the concept of the spiral. When you start the first round, do we decrease 2 together? On second row how do you offset pattern?with 84 stitches on needle and having to purl 2 & knit 5 it does not add up. What am I doing wrong please? Regards.
01.01.2024 - 00:32DROPS Design answered:
Dear Annie, the spiral pattern is worked in the round without interruption, ie repeat (P2, K5) all the time until you reach the final measurements, do not change pattern at the end of the round, just continue repeating P2, K5. This video shows another spiral pattern (K4, P2) worked in the round, it might help you to understand how to work this one. Happy knitting!

Hi I am working on this hat.I have noticed for the s/m it says to continue the spiral pattern to 7 1/2 inches.is this right.Seems long to me.I have also noticed is their is a slouch at the back of the hat if this is so,then I can understand the hat being a bit longer. Thks Carol Maitland
21.11.2022 - 21:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Maitland, correct you work the spiral pattern until the hat is 7½" long, then you will decrease for the crown, the hat is slouchy, just as shown on the picture. Happy knitting!

This pattern says: GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. I know garter stitch to be, knit all stitches with no purl stitches. Can you explain please?
29.12.2021 - 16:43DROPS Design answered:
Hi Valerie, in garter stitch, when you work back and forth, all stitches are knitted on all rows. Garter stitch in the round is worked: K 1 round and P 1 round. Please see the video HERE. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!

1. When working in the round, the pattern will displace 1 st towards the right on every round and forms a spiral pattern. Can you please explain this in the spiral pattern for hat 156-24? Thank you
04.10.2020 - 02:34DROPS Design answered:
Hi Linn, You knit the stitches as described in the text and the pattern will automatically spiral, due to the design of the stitches. Happy knitting!

Is there a specific way to do the decreases? I’m not getting the same affect when I K2TOG to decrease.
07.01.2020 - 18:04DROPS Design answered:
Hello Carol! You can decrease by knitting 2 stitches together (aka K2tog); or by knitting 2 stitches twisted together, i.e. knit them together in the back loops and the dec leans to the left. Happy knitting!

Is there an additional pattern to use for knitting the top of this hat the way it appears for this pattern (spiraled)? It is very disappointing to have a picture of what you think the pattern will make only to realize it doesn’t. How do I explain this to a friend who asked me to make this specific hat, as shown, for her?
07.01.2020 - 06:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Elridge, the spiral pattern at the top of the hat is worked on the picture as explained in the written pattern with decreasing 6 stitches on every other round then on every round - at the top of the hat you don't work spiral pattern anymore, only the decreases as explained. Happy knitting!

Strik RETSTRIK - se forkl over - til arb måler 3 cm. Derefter strikkes der SPIRALMØNSTER - se forkl over. Strik 6 omg retstrik - se forkl over. |
